Registration for the Beast of Ballyhoura 2010 is now open!

The Beast of Ballyhoura Adventure Weekend takes place over the August Bank Holiday Weekend, Jul 30th–Aug 2nd 2010.
The event features the Beast of Ballyhoura Adventure Race, a uniquely Irish 36 hour non-stop race across the ancient & magical surroundings of counties Cork, Limerick & Tipperary. Mixed teams of four mountain run, bike, kayak, abseil, orienteer & shoot, navigating the best route to win. Prepare to meet your demons during this event designed to push each team to their limits. The Beast of Ballyhoura also incorporates the 6th All Ireland Inter Services Challenge to unearth Irelands toughest service men and women. Are you tough enough?
The Ballyhoura Blitz takes place on Sunday August 2nd. The race is designed for individuals looking for the experience of adventure racing. The race will cover a distance of 30 Km consisting of a 10km hill run followed by 20km of mountain biking on the world class Ballyhoura Mountain Bike Trails. The race will involve some adventure terrain, a little orienteering & competitors should be prepared to get wet.

Leanne CCC Jun 13, 10:42AM Im confused. As far as Im aware Wicklow is not in Munster so why is this race listed as a Munster Wednesday League Race????
Kevin O'Riordan Jun 13, 11:25AM The Wicklow part is a mistake. It should say Limerick.
Mary McEvoy Jun 15, 12:44PM Hey, can anyone turn up on the day of the race? I'm not an IMRA member, but interested in joining also where is the start/meeting point?

Sean Harte Jun 15, 3:21PM ----
The run will start near the car park for the Ballyhoura
Mountain Bike trails. This car park and trailhead for these trails is
located 2 kms south of Ardpatrick village in Co. Limerick off the R512
road. From Limerick, take the N20 south through Charleville and
continue 2kms further on to Ballyhea. Turn left just after Ballyhea
church and drive for 10kms to reach Ardpatrick village. Turn right and
continue for 2.5 kms. Take a turn to the right signposted Castle
Oliver view and the car park is 1km up this road. We'll be starting
our run from a point a few hundred metres further along the road from
this car park.
This run will be the fourth of our IMRA series of 8 hill-runs. If you
want to take part in the IMRA series please arrive at the car-park
before 7.30pm to allow us time to register and issue race numbers. If
you did any of the three previous races (Clare Glens, Murroe and
Cratloe) you'll be using the same race number but will still have to
register for this race. Please bring your race number with you. If you
didn't do any of the previous races you can still join the series at
this point.

This weeks run is approximately 8km with a height gain of 400m. I
don't know this trail myself so can't give any details about it but
you can expect it to be tough - that's a decent height gain over a
relatively short distance.

As usual, bring a change of clothes for the usual pint/cuppa tea in
the pub afterwards.

aidan hogan Jun 16, 8:01AM Hey lads, I was hoping to head to the race tonight but have been left without transport for the evening. If anyone is heading to the race from the Limerick city direction, maybe I could bum a lift with ye??? If anyone is passing through Caherconlish or Ballyneety I could meet you there.

Cheers,
