| Rene Borg | Jul 24, 8:27PM | Mick, certainly you can't expect Moire to account for all her short jogs leading up to the Round, even if they happen to be the WMRA Long Distance Champs ;-) |
| Mick Hanney | Jul 24, 1:14PM | A tremendous account of a great achievement, very well done. You even glossed over the fact that you did a great run in the 3 Peaks a week before your 3 day challenge in England. Regards, Mick |
| Caroline Reid | Jul 24, 10:17AM | What an achievement and overwhelming read! Well done Moire ?you are an inspiration to us all, but especially for us ladies battling with our own small goals. |
| Rene Borg | Jul 23, 8:59PM | Moire's account has now been posted to the Reading Room. A well-recommended read, but I'm sure it needs no further recommendation. |
| Moire O'Sullivan | Jul 23, 9:20AM | Thanks to everyone for your messages throughout my Wicklow Round attempt. I have really been overwhelmed by your support. For any of you curious about what did happen out there, I've sent an account to Rene - I'm not too sure where he will stick it, but it'll be somewhere on the site. After reading, if anyone feels so inspired as to give the Round a go, just to say that I'd be more than happy to help out. Thanks, Moire |
| Geraldine O'Shea | Jul 22, 9:39AM | Congratulations Moire, that's some achievement. Respect ! |
| Rachel Cinnsealach | Jul 21, 9:17PM | Well done Moire, all those peaks.... wow.... and on your own too! I have a head torch for you, for all the volunteering you did during the Leinster League, maybe you can use it on your next attempt! :) |
| Paul McArthur | Jul 21, 6:17PM | Well done Moire! A great effort....and even more so for trying it solo. |
| Rene Borg | Jul 21, 5:24PM | Great kudos from here Moire, I'd have struggled to stay awake for 21.5hours, much less run for that period, hopefully your attempt will start having the same effect on this Round as Bannister's mile on 4-minute barrier ;-) On Gerry Brady's suggestoin, we will be creating an event page for each of the three attempts to date where we can collate the photos, planned schedule, and so on for posterity. When you wake up, Moire, feel free to send us your own personal Report and I will be glad to post it as a "Race Report" for this event. It will no doubt be a well-received addition to IMRA Folklore in years to come. |
| Jacqui Howard | Jul 21, 5:00PM | Fantastic attempt Moire...well done,that\'s some achievement! Jacqui |
| Tony Kiernan | Jul 21, 9:43AM | Well done Moire on a super effort, made even more exceptional by brave solo run. I?m sure you?ll be feeling crap with having to pull out but take solace in the fact that you covered 25 of the 27 peaks a fantastic time proving a sub 24hrs is possible and with a change of start time you?ll have no problem. There?s plenty of armchair rounder?s out there so don?t be giving any of those well earned tactics away..... Once again well done to you and your support crew, Andrew and Peter. |
| cormac o ceallaigh | Jul 21, 9:19AM | good effort Moire, goodness so close! nearly there.hope you make it on the next attempt. |
| Brendan Lawlor | Jul 21, 8:14AM | Well done Moire...fantastic effort and sooo close. I look forward to your debrief, once you've had three days sleep |
| Paul Mahon | Jul 21, 7:58AM | Great Effort Moire. Knowing you you will have it in the bag by the end of the year. The "Round in 24" remains ellusive..................... who will be next to try and be the first? |
| Joe Lalor | Jul 21, 1:42AM | The adventure came to an end at 12.00 at the service road on the military road. After a very difficult descent from Tonduff in the dark Moire decided to call it a day. Well done on a gallant solo attempt which so nearly made it. |
| Joe Lalor | Jul 20, 11:10PM | Change of route no longer coming through Crone via Military Road instead |
| Aisling Coppinger | Jul 20, 10:19PM | She looked to be in great form. She was very eager to push on, as you'll see from the couple of photos I tried to get at Sheepbanks Bridge. http://www.flickr.com/photos/aquaasho/sets/72157606278119296/ |
| Joe Lalor | Jul 20, 9:53PM | Wicklow Round attempt update. Moire through Sheepshank Bridge (Lugalla) at 9.05pm Having started at 2.30am she is 18hr and 35mn into challenge and 24hours is very much alive. |
| Brendan Lawlor | Jul 20, 9:52PM | Moire passed Sheepsbank Bridge at 21.05, still very strong and in good spirits...heres hoping for the last few peaks |
| Brendan Lawlor | Jul 20, 4:03PM | Moire is expected through the Wicklow gap at 4.30pm..going well and in good spirits |
| Joe Lalor | Jul 20, 3:50PM | Round attempt going well. Having lost some 50 minutes in early morning mist at Billy's Byrnes gap, Moire keep to her pace to arrive in Drungoff at 12.50. She made up 7 of those lost minutes to arrive in Glendalough at 2.32. She is moving well and in very good form. As well as being meet by her support crew she has made encouragement by IMRA members in Carrowaystick and Mulacor. Below is her scedule, you would need to add about an hour to these now. | Mick Hanney | Jul 19, 3:14PM | Sure what else would you be doing on a Sunday? Best of luck Moire. |
| Brendan Lawlor | Jul 19, 2:35PM | Good on you Moire..I really hope you make it round..First round, first woman, first in 24 hours..you have plenty to aim at Any chance of posting your plan so we can be out to support you? Brendan |
| Moire O'Sullivan | Jul 19, 2:11PM | Seeing that there's such lovely weather this weekend, I think I'll give the Wicklow Round a wee go tomorrow (Sunday i.e. 20th July). Thought I'd put the note on the forum so that, if I do get round, it can be seen as a recognised attempt (following the rules and all that). |
