IMRA's new IronWoman

AuthorDateMessage
Tony Kiernan Sep 7, 9:24PM Not only has IMRA got a new World Champion, well done yesterday to Mags,

IMRA also has a new IronWoman !

Well done to Aisling Coppinger who just also happens to be from Clonliffe ! who completed Ironman UK today in a fantastic time of 13hrs 12min

3.8k swim
180k bike
with a Marathon 26.2 miles to finish

Whos says that running up hills is bad for you...
Paul Mahon Sep 8, 8:56AM Super stuff to the Iron women Mags and Aisling.

Aisling's achievement in completing the Ironman is all the more impressive as she only learned to swim from scratch a few months ago.

An insiration to us all Aisling.

Just wonder what you can have in mind to follow that :-)
Moire O'Sullivan Sep 8, 9:22AM Just to add to the congrats to Mags and Aisling - amazing to see Ash doing a 3:30 marathon after all that swimming and biking!
Mick Hanney Sep 8, 1:50PM Fantastic achievement, well done. To run a 3.30 marathon ordinarily is an achievement in itself. To run it after your previous ordeals on the day is brilliant.
Tressan McCambridge Sep 8, 10:31PM That's absolutely fantastic. Extremely well done to both Aisling and Mags. Congratulations to you both.
Eamonn Hodge Sep 9, 10:44AM Just to put Aisling's run into perspective...

Out of approximately 1300 competitors Aisling had the 48th fastest run (male and female). She was the 4th fastest female runner and two of the three women who had a faster run time are professional triathletes! Unbelievable.

Eva Fairmaner Sep 10, 1:46PM Just to echo some of the comments..
Well done Mags, it is only a pity that you haven't been hill running for the past 20 years, what an achievement, particularly beating last years' winner.
Aisling is phenomenal, to compete in an Ironman after only learning to swim in the fast few months is amazing and to round off the three events with a 3.5 hour marathon is some achievement - what next?????
Aisling Coppinger Sep 11, 6:23PM Cheers and thanks for all the good wishes. It was a great event. Lots of rolling hills and pretty countryside. Even the run could be described as off-round for most of it. I really enjoyed the day and am so grateful to all the IMRA members who gave me huge encouragement at aquathons and triathlons before the event when I was really struggling with the swimming. Wouldn't have got through it without people telling me not to give up! Thanks! :-)
