Mountain Half Marathon

| Justin Rea | Feb 19, 10:32AM | The Dublin Mountains Partnership (DMP) in conjunction with IMRA are planning a half marathon for Sunday 18th July starting from Marlay Park and heading up through Massey's Wood to Cruagh forest, then across to Tibradden and back along the Wicklow Way to the park. This will be operated as an IMRA event most likely with online pre-registration. There may be some overlap with runners intending to travel to the Mt Leinster event the day before, but hopefully this will not put too many out. IMRA/DMP will be looking for volunteers to help with the usual tasks of running an event. The marshalling of this race will need to be much more extensive than league races to keep runners on track and provide water stations. This is an opportunity for IMRA to give something back for the support the DMP is giving to recreational users of the mountains (that's us). Proceeds from the race will help fund maintenance of trails and supervision of car parks, etc. We should do all we can to participate in the race and assist with running it. When this goes up in the events list there will be a map and more detail on registration, please volunteer if you don't intend to run. |
