Route Description:

Fire trail, forest trail, open mountain and about 200 metres of road.

The race will start at the gates at the western end of the Hellfire car park with a run up to and around the Hellfire Club. From there you will run back down to the fire road, onto the mountain bike track, into the east end of the car park and across the road to Masseys Estate. From Masseys gate you will run east over the Owendoher River and then north following the trail east of the river up to Cruagh.

In Cruagh you will initially run on the Dublin Mountain Way until you get to the fire trail after about 400m. From there you will take a left, run on the firetrail for about 300m and then cross a gully and onto a single track in the forest which will head east until you get to Tibradden car park.

From Tibradden car park you will follow the Dublin Mountain Way through Zipit and up to the top of Tibradden mountain, continuing over the forest edge where the Dublin Mountain Way meets the Wicklow Way. At this point you will take a left (heading north) along rocky route of the Wicklow Way. Follow this route all the way to the top of Fairy Castle.

Go around the trig point at the top of Fairy Castle and head north east, downhill towards the city. Watch out for the first left coming down hill about 500 metres. Follow this trail before taking a sharp left back on the Wicklow Way. When you get to the Wicklow Way you head back the way you came but following the fire trail through Cruagh and back down into Masseys. After dropping back down to the bridge at Owendoher River you take a left and it's an 800 metre uphill finish to the gates of Masseys Estate (across the road from Hellfire).

Getting There:

The race will start at the Hell Fire car park. Carpool from Scholars Pub.

Parking at the Hellfire is limited so if you have no passengers in your car you are likely to be asked to turn around and pick up other participants.

Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
