Dermot MurphyJul 19 2012, 8:37amWe need a race director for this race, also a first aid officer and lap top operator. We have enough general helpers at this stage - are any of the helpers able to do one of the other three roles?
Aidan BligheJul 19 2012, 2:06pmHi Dermot,
First Aid is covered
Aidan
Niall FoxJul 19 2012, 2:37pmI could do laptop operator for this race, however, its been 2 years since I've last done it - is there a running volunteer that could brief me before the race or otherwise?
Jim FitzharrisJul 19 2012, 2:46pmNiall,

I have your email address as niallfox (at) gmail (dot) com.

I have sent you an email to that address with some info. If that is not your email address, please let me have it so that I can re-send the message.

Cheers,

Jim.
Brendan LawlorJul 19 2012, 4:09pmDermot, I put myself down as Deputy Race Director (Running) and if no Race Director emerges between now and end of next week I'll switch to Race Director (non running)

This is a grand opportunity for a novice race director to have a go at directing a race - several others took the plunge this year with great success so don't be shy!
Dermot MurphyJul 19 2012, 9:20pmWell covered for helpers at this stage - just RD available! Plenty of roles to be filled for Devils Glen.... I won't be accepting any more volunteers.
Ursula RedmondJul 20 2012, 9:51amHi, I'm down as running volunteer - could I switch roles to (non-running) shadow laptop operator? Ursula
Brendan LawlorJul 20 2012, 10:05amUrsula, that will be fine
Richard KieranJul 25 2012, 10:14pmHi Brendan, Will there be a junior course at this race? Hoping to get my 11yr old boy started on his way to the IMRA 100 Club! Richard
Dermot MurphyJul 26 2012, 7:24amJunior course - once off the initial road section, this is race is on a narrow forest track. Last year, we said the best way around this is for the juniors to start 5 minutes after the main field. From the map page, the junior turn around point will be at point D, back the back they came to the start.

The main route will be the same as the last two years - at junction I, the route will go back up to juntion D and then back to the start.
Brendan LawlorJul 26 2012, 8:56amHi all

A Thursday morning in July and no aches and pains from the Wednesday evening hill race...whats going on?!

Well, we'll sort you out next Wednesday with the first race of three in the Trail League series. These races are an ideal introduction to hill running for beginners or Juniors.

Parking at next weeks race is fairly limited so please car-pool from the Glencormack Inn , which is also the prizegiving pub. Single occupancy cars as ever are discouraged.

We now have sufficient volunteers and could all volunteers please try to be at the race start/registration area no later than 6.15pm
Rossa ButlerJul 30 2012, 11:25amHi guys,

I'm hoping this will be my first IMRA race. How do I go about joining/signing up?

Thanks,
Rossa
Donal TroddynJul 30 2012, 11:41amRossa, just print out and fill in this form: http://www.imra.ie/ad-hoc/MembershipForm2012.pdf

Turn up with it on Wednesday with €17 for your membership and race fee, and that's it. Make sure you arrive with plenty of time before the race to get registered.
Brendan LawlorJul 30 2012, 11:42amRossa

If you have a look at the Beginners tab on the main website home page you will find all the information you need.

Try to carpool by calling to the Glencormack Inn and give yourself a bit of extra time to register

Derek kellettAug 1 2012, 10:50amJesko, I intend being down this evening & will be travelling home to Duleek afterwards, so dropping you in Balbriggan is not a bother, though I will be leaving immediately after the race & won't be going for pints/prizes. 087 1466292

Mike JordanAug 1 2012, 2:03pmHi Angela
If you can't find a lift you can get the Dublin Bus 145 from Shankill or Bray to Kilmacanogue and then carpool from the Glencormac Inn to the race. I met a friend at the pub before after they got that bus and they had no problems.

Jeff SwordsAug 1 2012, 2:27pmCheers Jimmy, I might give the bare feet a go just to add to the challenge, I wouldn't want to be getting my good road shoes dirty !

John ColemanAug 2 2012, 2:33pmBrendan,
Thanks for advising me to go with the Mountain Runners last night. It was about 7:10 when I asked you so I was very happy to have the chance to get back to the car in the Glenview and change them. Pitied those in the runners as soon as I entered the forest!
Great race overall also!
John.
