This race was run in Tibradden rather than Glasnamullan as advertised due a restriction of 50 on any one route in Wicklow National Park.
The race stared in Pine Forest car park, continued over Tribradden summit and on to the Wicklow Way Track. Instead of the usual route up Fairy Castle the route turned towards Kilmasogue and approached Fairy Castle from the south by the 3Rock aerials. The outcome of the summer league was at a crital stage before this race as three runners, Hugh, Eoin and Vincent could still clinch the title. There were prerace inquiries to make sure that the substitute race was of the same length and difficulty as the one it replaced. Eoin lead the runners out but was passed by Hugh and Vincent by Tibradden summit. These two stuck like glue all the way around until they arrived back at Tibradden. Here Hugh applied his experience and tundered down the very rocky track, were Vincent as a newcommer to hill running was at a disadvantage, to win by a clear margin.
