Wanted urgently elite Irish Hill Runners. Race four of the Winter League was dominated by visitors to our shore. Scot John Brooks had changed by the time the rest of the field had arrived back. Next home was Geoffrey Decker a visitor from America, follow by Stephan McArthur a long standing member of the hillrunning scene here but another Scot, if only they could play rugby.

Newcomer Zoe Melling (Rathfarnham) was a clear winner in the ladies race.

Valentine’s fever was in the air with couples winning two of the categories. Roisin and Paul (star of the new calendar) won the >40 race while Jane and Graham won the >50. Speaking of St. Valentine and cupid what did you think of Graham’s quiver of arrows (new markers)? Well done Graham.

The route used for the first time in a league race may have been familiar to some as it has been used in post summer league training runs was suitable for strong runners with not much to offer for the dedicated hill runner. This can be seen in the results with quite a few reversals from the normal placings.
