- The senior men, senior women, and junior men start is at 1315 metres above sea level. Senior men have a small loop in the village at the start and also near the finish. The junior women start is at 1830m. All races finish near Yastrebets Peak (2369m).
Junior women: 4 km / 500m ascent Junior men & Senior women: 8.7 km / 1000m ascent Senior men: 11.6 km / 1150m ascent

Uphill only races in Samokov, Borovets, Bulgaria. Average temperatures are 20 degrees at 09:00 and 24 degrees at 12 noon.

Selection basis: First two in trial races with other positions based on trial race and mountain running and cross-country/road performances in 2012/2013. All selection is subject to the athlete being capable of finishing within 5% of the trial winners time and 10% of the international race winners times. Only athletes who meet the criteria will be selected this means that full teams may not be sent. Selected athletes should be registered with Athletics Ireland.
