6 (2,2,2) - Moderate Terrain, 200M - 500M ascent, 6Km - 10Km
- Only major junctions marked
The run itself is a steady uphill climb for the first 3.5km after which the track levels out and goes clockwise around the top of the hill, before going through a rutted marshy section. The trail improves at the end of the marsh when you swing to the right and back onto solid ground. After about 300 metres you'll hit a T-junction (intersecting the route you took on the way up). Going left at this point takes you back to the cars. The track is, in general, quite good but is rutted in a number of places and does have one section of bog/marsh which will almost certainly be quite boggy. So you're going to get wet and dirty! Ah yes, the joys of hill-running!
Murroe, Co. Limerick
Race registration is in the carpark opposite Croker's bar in Murroe, Co. Limerick. It will be necessary to carpool from here to the race start (about 3.5km away) as there is very limited parking at the race start location.
This race is open to all and the cost is €10. There is no online pre-registration available. Please arrive at least 30 mins before race start time to give time for race registration.
If you have already run an IMRA race this year, bring the race number given to you at that race as it is valid for the full year.
However, if this is your first IMRA race this year, you must purchase yearly IMRA membership for €10 per person. Please download the membership form, and fill it out beforehand to speed up registration (they will be available on the day too). You will then be given a race number that is used for other IMRA races this year.
Under IMRA rules for competitors safety, it is mandatory to bring and carry a jacket that is shower and wind proof for the entire race. Any competitor seen not carrying or wearing their jacket at any stage in the race will be disqualified. There are no exceptions to this rule!
