Ken Cowley | Jan 4 2012, 1:58pm | A friend of mine wants to do the Art O'Neill, which is next Friday, 13th Jan. Apparently, the organisers are still allowing transfers, so if any IMRA runner is thinking of dropping out feel free to let me know at kencowley@ireland.com Thanks. |
Paul Joyce | Jan 4 2012, 4:41pm | I'm thinking of skipping this one (after enjoying all the recce's of the offroad, I find myself ambivilent about the 30k road section :) Don't know if they are still accepting transfers, but I sent you an email anyway. |
Justin O'Keeffe | Jan 5 2012, 3:16pm | Are there many planning on running this event slowly & are stuck between (1) not wanting to walk the second half in a slow moving guided group after running out of town & (2) not fancy wandering the hills in darkness! There are a few of us in the same boat looking for an alternate solution as a slowish / constant running group - shoot me an email on justinokeeffe AT gmail DOT com if interested |
Ken Cowley | Jan 16 2012, 8:15am | Well done to everyone involved in organising the Art O'Neill, and to Eoin Keith on his amazing record winning win. I blogged about it a bit on a couple of my blog sites, so seeing as it's not an IMRA event (thus with nowhere to put up a race report) - here's a link in case anyone's interested. http://www.samsonsdiner.blogspot.com/ Great event! |
Brendan Lawlor | Jan 16 2012, 10:04am | Well done to all the Art O'Neill-ers at the weekend - you fast lads and lassies weren't hanging around to chat to me at CP1 at Kilbride Army Camp, but a few of you did say hello. Eoin Keith set a new record (on a slightly shortened course)of 5 hours 26 mins, but he was closely followed by Paul Tierney (5:35) and Greg Byrne (5:38). Taryn McCoy was first woman home in 7:51 and she was 19th finisher overall - great performance! The final finisher came in at about 5pm (17 hours approx) and there were a record number of people completing the challenge Here's the first 50 home, full results with splits at www.artoneillchallenge.ie - lots of familiar names in there Place Bib Surname Name 1 1449 Keith Eoin 2 1705 Tierney Paul 3 1265 Byrne Greg 4 1351 Duncan Bruce 5 1467 Kjaer Thure Fuhrmann 6 1689 Skrba Zoran 7 1284 Charnecki Tim 8 1710 Tucker Adrian 9 1403 Hamelinck Wouter 10 1428 Howlin Colm 11 1241 Blake Aidan 12 1292 Coffey William 13 1639 O'Sullivan Stephen 14 1341 Dougan Martin 15 1234 Barry Ken 16 1347 Duffy Gerry 17 1556 Morrogh Daniel 18 1325 Delap Hugh 19 1506 McCoy Taryn 20 1402 Halvorsen Jesper 21 1732 Nunan Richard 22 1680 Seery Brian 23 1728 Rock William 24 1479 Lyons Mark 25 1524 McInerney Dominic 26 1283 Cassidy Chris 27 1667 Riordan Dave 28 1422 Hopkins Graham 29 1720 Whelan Anthony 30 1575 Murtagh Mickey Dan 31 1437 Corrigan Anthony 32 1518 Toombes William 33 1564 Murphy Brendan 34 1310 Crinion David 35 1406 Hamond Fred 36 1581 NiCaba Caitriona 37 1264 Byrne Fergus 38 1706 Tierney Paul 39 1539 Meskell John 40 1538 Meskell Brian 41 1238 Meskell Kevin 42 1461 Kiernan David 43 1526 Mcintyre Frank 44 1451 Kelders Paul 45 1450 Kelders Neil 46 1415 Heim Berndt 47 1252 Brosnan Sean 48 1594 O Donnell Ronan 49 1626 O'Kelly Mark 50 1600 O Reilly Ronan Thank you to everyone who took part in the event - a good slice of your entry fee will be going to mountain rescue and several of you fundraised for us also - we really appreciate it!
