Rene BorgMay 8 2012, 1:58pmApologies for the spam but wanted to let the IMRA community know that Jason and my company ChampionsEverywhere are organising another two-day workshop at the Brockagh Resource Centre focused on injury prevention, treatment and natural movement. All the details are at the link below and email me at rene at championseverywhere dot com. The Kerry Weekenders will have seen a brief 30 minute preview of what this is all about:

Both courses help lay the foundation for advanced workshops which we will hold in autumn. We are designing one specifically for high performance hill running which will be led by the parkour specialist Ben Medder (the man who can clear anything with grace!) but the basic skills need to be taught first.

These workshops are hoped to become a permanent service available in the Glendalough/Laragh area.
Rene BorgMay 8 2012, 1:59pmAnd I should probably have listed the dates straight off the bat: 9th and 10th of June. You can register either for day 1 or day 2 or a package consisting of both.
Rene BorgMay 11 2012, 4:38pmA quick update on this:

ChampionsEverywhere and our partners on this workshop, Pilates Running, would like to extend a 10% discount voucher for registration for each of the days (or the package of both). This offer will also be extended to all active members of Athletics Ireland in case you are one or the other.

Simply mail me at rene at championseverywhere dot com to claim the voucher code ahead of registration.

As a summary the objective of the workshops are to teach you the following:

- Identify the root causes for your current injury problems
- Enable you to treat all injuries and niggles on the fly with no outside intervention
- Enabling you to run as high mileage as you want without any injury concerns
- Learn to cope optimally with the forces involved in running on all terrains, uphills and downhills
- Run in any type of footwear you want, no matter how minimalist
- Eliminate the need for maintenance work such as stretching, massage, icing, weights and cross-training and replace it with one set of natural movement drills and orthotics and similar fixes
- Built strength, flexibility, agility and speed without creating any muscular imbalances and with no need for a gym or equipment (using just your surroundings if needed)
- Clear obstacles and very difficult terrain in the most effective and most efficient way (not always the same)
Rene BorgMay 16 2012, 8:47amA third of the spaces gone at this stage. Spotted a gremlin in my last post which needs correction. This:

- Eliminate the need for maintenance work such as stretching, massage, icing, weights and cross-training and replace it with one set of natural movement drills and orthotics and similar fixes

Should read:

- Eliminate the need for maintenance work such as stretching, massage, icing, weights, orthotics and cross-training and replace it with one set of natural movement drills

We are trying to remove the need for orthotics not create an incentive to buy them!
