Gareth LittleMay 10 2012, 12:57pmHi all,

This years Walk The Line challenge is back on June 23rd. The event now has two options with either a 20k route or a 30k route. This is open to walkers, hybrids and runners. The event will kick off at 8pm and all money raised will go to the Dublin & Wicklow Mountain rescue team. See www.walktheline.ie for more details.

Walk the Line is a fund raising event for the Dublin Wicklow Mountain rescue team (DWMRT).

Taking place on the 23rd of June 2012 the event is a walk/run along the boundary of the Dublin & Wicklow Mountains, starting on the west of the mountains and finishing in Larch hill overlooking Dublin city. To fit in with the summer solstice the walk starts at 8pm at night and the plan is each participant would find themselves on a peak at sunrise.

The Final route has been selected and confirmed subject to permits from the National Park and Coillte. To ensure that the environmental impact of the walk is kept to a minimum we have moved the start to the military road to cut out the the section over Seefingan.

This year we have two options which will provide options for both the novice walker to support the team while experiencing the mountains at night and for the more experienced folk who want challenge themselves with a longer run/walk.
