Volunteers needed!

Please remember that IMRA relies on the availability and efforts of volunteers for every aspect of the races that will take place this year.

For races to happen and to go smoothly, it is vital that we have enough volunteers ***well ahead of race day*** so that the Race Director can be confident that vital roles are filled and the race can go ahead.

Luckily, we have a cohort of very dedicated volunteers who regularly step up at short notice to fill gaps in volunteer roles. However, in the interest of fairness and sustainability, we need to ensure that all regular IMRA runners are also taking on volunteer roles.

When you are planning your races for the year, please also consider which races you can volunteer at and sign up now. Especially if you are coming up to (or have passed!) 10 races with no volunteering, it is time to sign-up for a volunteer role. Your volunteer record is easy to find in your runner profile page.

**The race at Howth tomorrow still needs volunteers for critical roles so there is an early opportunity to help out.**

Also please consider what training you could join in order to be able to take on one of the critical roles – first aid and laptop operator. The first aid course this year is on May 20th in Glencree - https://www.imra.ie/forum/topic/id/4502. The laptop is quite easy to learn and you could do that by volunteering in a shadow laptop operator role.

Again, IMRA can’t function at all without members stepping up to make races happen. It is one of the most critical aspects of the organisation and it is the huge volunteer effort that enables us to put on races at such a low cost to members. Volunteering is also a great way to get to know other runners and to feel more involved in IMRA. And of course, you need to have completed two non-running volunteer roles in order to collect your summer league prize.
