Dylan McauleySep 26 2017, 8:18pmHow's things everyone first post on here .
I'm looking to start running races but it's my first time on here ,
I'm not new to running I've ran half marathon distance and I'm 23 yo and member of the defence forces so I train frequently.

Just looking for any advice or starting events coming up ,
Cheers thanks !
Rene BorgSep 27 2017, 8:42amhi Dylan, the Winter League coming up in January is where a lot of us started in earnest. There's not much else formally organised by IMRA in 2017 as the main season is over - the two main races remaining are the very long Dublin Peaks on 7th October (unmarked) and the tough Powerscourt Ridge season ender (also unmarked). If you're an experienced navigator the unmarked shouldn't put you off but otherwise it may be an idea to wait for the Winter Leaguee before getting your IMRA debut.

there are more and more trail and hill runs being organised outside of IMRA as well and these are generally fully marked.

To name a few there is Run the Ridge on 14th October - which is a fundraiser for my own club Glendalough AC and Laragh GFC, there is Run the Line (unfortunately sold out I believe) and the Glendalough Trail Run on 18th November which is in support of Fighting Blindness. Athletics Wicklow also organise the Avondale 4 mile Trail race on the as a fund-raiser for Sli Cualann on 19th November.
Dylan McauleySep 27 2017, 11:04amCheers for the lengthy reply ,
Yeah I think I'll do some events organised elsewhere then , I'd rather do the non navigation ones first ,

I'd be interested in the one on the 14th October , have you any more info how to register ? Thanks.
