Lara Thomas | Jan 27 2018, 11:34pm | Hello! My boyfriend and I will be visiting the Southern half of Ireland Feb 1-10 visiting Cork, Kerry, and Dublin. Coming from Portland, Oregon we are seeking trail running suggestions! Our good friend, Paddy O'Leary suggested that we post in this forum to connect with fellow runners in the country and would love any and all suggestions! If you'd like two American running buddies let us know and we'd be happy to adventure. Thanks! |
Mike Jordan | Jan 28 2018, 10:17am | Hi Lara Good resources for finding trails in Ireland are: Irish Trails website (http://www.irishtrails.ie/) This website has hundreds of pages for waymarked (signposted) trails around the country. You can click on the county you are visiting and then see what trails are near you. For your trip its worth checking out the national waymarked ways page for information on the Kerry Way, Dingle Way, Dubin Mountains Way, and Wicklow Way (http://www.irishtrails.ie/National_Waymarked_Trails/). Coillte website (http://www.coillte.ie/our-forests/recreation-map/) This is the national forestry website and gives all the waymarked trails in the coillte forestry around the country. There is an IMRA facebook page along with separate Cork and Kerry trail running group pages where you can find further suggestions. If you are in Dublin on the 3rd be sure to call to the Ticknock race (https://www.imra.ie/events/view/id/1565/). Enjoy your trip! |

Averaging 2/3 outings each weekends, on trails, open mountain and even a few islands off the SW coast... https://m.facebook.com/groups/1328420757249671?tsid=0.5069609720254007&source=result |
