Rene BorgApr 30 2018, 3:51pmEveryone, hope this post is appropriate. Glendalough AC are looking for volunteers for our annual fund-raiser - the Lap of the Gap Marathon on 26th of May this year.

We need significant numbers to man the large course in many different roles from traffic and aid station marshals to registration, photographers (but primarily marshals) as well as course crew (drivers, disassembly crew etc.).

For anyone interested in offering themselves for an 8-hour shift (either 7 to 15 or 8 to 16), we can in return offer a free entry of your choice to one of our races:

- Run the Ridge 8k or 20 km event 2018 or 2019 (this year held on 18th August alongside the Laragh Sports Day)
- Any of the Lap of the Gap race series in 2019 (3 mile, half-marathon or marathon)

You will also have your pick of race refreshments after your duties alongside the race participants - that goes without saying.

If you're interested please email me directly on rene.borg@outlook.ie. We'll ensure anyone who helps receives a thorough briefing from their Race Committee member responsible for your area.
Rene BorgMay 30 2018, 11:19pmA quick note here to say thank you to the IMRA folks who stepped forward - your experience was invaluable.

We had a great day and for the third time a runner with IMRA history took the day and this time in a new record: Kevin English became the third winner after Torben Dahl and Adrian Hennessy in a time of 2:50:52.
Rene BorgApr 8 2019, 3:58pmGlendalough AC are hosting Lap of the Gap again and we need more volunteers to join our smiling team - 4-hour and 8-hour shifts (as you can).

In return you will get:

- Free entry to 2020 event of choice or entry to Run the Ridge 2019 (10k or 20k race)
- Avail of runner's refreshments (coffee/cake)
- Sandwich provided for 8 hour shift staff
- fuel cost covered if you need to drive further than 50 km as part of your duties

Roles range from traffic/parking marshals, course sweepers, registration, first aid, course disassembly or more specialised roles for those with experience in managing key functions

Rene BorgMay 16 2019, 1:25pmThis year's volunteer crew is nearly finalised - thanks so much to everyone who volunteered!

We have a few small 'openings' if anyone could lend a hand for one or even two of the below shifts, please message us if any of the below roles is something you can help us with:

DRIVER (Runner pick-up in Dublin - 6:30-7:00 am)
MARSHAL (Upper Lake) 8:55-9:20
Shuttle manager (7:30-8:00) - help with timely onboarding
MARSHAL (Glendalough Hotel) 8:30-9:30
DRIVER (Sweeper car for the half) 8:45-11:35
MARSHAL (Lynhams of Laragh)12:00-13:00
MARSHAL (Half-marathon turn-point at Glenmacnass Waterfall) 9:20-11:00

there's still room for anyone taking a half or full day shift and earn the free spots on Lap of the Gap 2020 or Run the Ridge 2019/2020 as this would give us a bit more contingency.
