Enniskerry bus routes

AuthorDateMessage
John ShielsSep 25 2018, 7:30amHi All,
The Enniskerry bus routes are proposed to be changed under the Bus Connects project. The 44 bus route is to be replaced with the 213, a route from Bray to UCD via Enniskerry. To meet transport links, people will have to walk nearly a kilometer to the Luas in Sandyford. There will no longer be a direct link to the city centre. The 185 bus route that connects Bray to Shop River, near Curtlestown woods is to be stopped altogether. The lack of the 44 in particular, will make it even more challenging for hillwalkers and hill runners who want to use public transport to get into the Dublin and Wicklow mountains.

The closing date for submissions is this Friday, 28th September 2018. Submissions can be made by email to consultations@busconnects.ie

Irish Times: Backlash over Dublin bus routes

"One of those hills, Kilgarron, which runs about a kilometre out of the village towards a housing estate that now will have no bus service has a gradient of up to 17 per cent. That is steeper than the Alpe d'Huez, the notorious hill climb in the Tour de France. "
Stuart ScottSep 25 2018, 10:20amHi John,

This isn't really the forum for this (even if it is a forum!) but from the map on the website, it looks like the 213 will stop right beside Stillorgan Luas and then continue onto UCD to link up with the new 46A. So I think it's actually better than the 44.

Your point about the 185 is fair enough though!

Stuart
John ShielsSep 25 2018, 1:32pmIt should be of interest to IMRA as it relates to access to the wicklow hills, not every one has a vechicle like yours Stuart :)
Stuart ScottSep 25 2018, 1:58pmVery true. Like the popular ad says, "if Toyota did buses, there'd be no need for BusConnects"!
