Run the Ridge 2019

AuthorDateMessage
Rene BorgJul 14 2019, 1:04pmFirst of all thanks to the IMRA Committee for allowing me to share this here.

The 4th running of the annual Run the Ridge event will be held once again in conjunction with the memorial Cullen Cup by Glendalough AC and laragh GFC.

All funds go to Laragh GFC and Glendalough AC who are currently actively involved in developing a trail improvement project around Laragh for which these funds are earmarked - I hope you'll come out and support us in this cause.

THE ROUTE

Both events start and begin on the Laragh GAA grounds with the 20 km route following a long ascent on the 'Orange Road', joining with the Wicklow Way and then emerging for the highlight of the course - the full traverse of the Derrybawn Ridge and descent back down through Derrybawn Woods.

The 8 km course has been 'upgraded' to 10km this year taking in not only the usual scenic parts of Derrybawn Woods but also some of the more interesting trails just below Derrybawn summit.

Both courses finish with a 700m lap of the GAA grounds and will be extensively marked so prior route knowledge is not necessary. Chip-timing, race number, parking, and plentiful goodies and water for after as well as prizes for top-3 finishers are included in the price.

this year's Race Director is IMRA regular Keith Mulvey - feel free to post questoins here and Keith will get around to them.
