Richard Nunan | Jul 11 2021, 1:33pm | Hi Folks, As this was raised this morning we just wanted to provide an update in terms of Carpooling in accordance with our Covid guidelines as of July 5th 2021 For IMRA events there is No limit on number of people who can carpool together if they are all fully protected by vaccination or have recovered from COVID-19 infection in the previous 9 months In line with current advice, our recommendation would be that one un-vaccinated member should carpool with no more than one other unvaccinated member. Please note they still have to self declare as part of our Guidelines thanks again for your consideration in this matter. The Committee |
Barry Murray | Aug 10 2021, 11:17am | Dear Committee, In relation to the recent post regarding carpooling for vaccinated members versus unvaccinated members, we would like to make the following statement: We are pro choice and therefore do not discriminate against any person based on their bodily integrity. We also respect peoples privacy and under GDPR guidelines would not ask any individual to share their personal health details. Therefore, the members names signed below, will accept any IMRA member to carpool regardless of their choice regarding their vaccine consent. Yours Sincerely, Barry Murray Bernard Fortune Gavin Byrne Jason Kehoe Ian Conroy Lindie Naughton Mikey Fry Julie McNamee Jenny Uí Shé Aisling Kirwin Rene Borg NOTE: Any IMRA members that would like to be added to the list to help those members who need to decide their carpooling options, please just reply here or email : murray.barry@gmail.com |

Shane Enright | Aug 10 2021, 1:08pm | Barry's post says the following: "We also respect peoples privacy and under GDPR guidelines would not ask any individual to share their personal health details." I am not sure what the relevance of GDPR is. IMRA is not collecting or processing data on members' vaccination status. Therefore IMRA is not a data controller in this context. If you want to travel in my car I can ask you whether you have been vaccinated or not. You, in turn, are under no obligation to tell me. GDPR is not relevant here. If in doubt see GDPR Article 2 (2): "This Regulation does not apply to the processing of personal data............by a natural person in the course of a purely personal or household activity" https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/HTML/?uri=CELEX:32016R0679&from=EN#d1e1404-1-1 |

Aisling Kirwan | Aug 10 2021, 6:01pm | Surely as consenting adults people can make their own decisions as to who they will or will not travel with to a leisure event. It is outrageous to think that a person would be required to discuss their personal medical details at a fun sporting event . I fail to see what would be the difference to an entirely outdoor event if you traveled with a vaccinated or non vaccinated person or persons, would we need to log our close contacts of vaccinated and non vaccinated persons throughout our whole day. I am saddened to know that a two tiered society is firmly under way,, even in our lovely hills. |
Laura Flynn | Aug 10 2021, 6:33pm | For accuracy purposes Barry, you should note that some of the names described by you in your post as signatories to that post are not in fact currently IMRA members. |

Hazel stapleton | Aug 11 2021, 2:16pm | I, too, would like to state my appreciation and support of the committee for their excellent work in getting racing going again. The COVID measures in place are proportionate and help to keep everyone safe. |
Richard Fox | Aug 11 2021, 5:30pm | A little ditty that could be sung to the tune of the appropriately named The Mountains of Mourne Oh IMRA these hills are a wonderful sight, where your members are running by day and by night, they abide by your rules and your guidelines so bright, and because of your care the races are right, although some members may have a disquite, the rest of us get by without a big fight, so remember all members why our committee is there, and get on with the running which is our own right. Thank you IMRA committee for your time, consideration and very hard work for all your members foxy |
Brendan Lawlor | Aug 11 2021, 5:39pm | Good man Richard Fox…We’ll be expecting great things from you at next years National Limerick Day ! |
Barry Murray | Aug 12 2021, 10:31am | Will do Laura, thanks. |
Barry Murray | Aug 12 2021, 10:56am | Just to clarify, The letter above makes no reference to being unthankful to the committee for the resumption of races. To reiterate, the members simply want to point out how they support peoples own choice and will not discriminate against any member for carpooling based on their vaccination status. |
Kevin O'Riordan | Aug 12 2021, 12:56pm | Laura, not being IMRA members just makes their offer of providing lifts to races for our members even more generous! |
