RIP Mike (Curley) Cunningham

Mike (Curley) Cunningham

Mike (Curley) Cunningham, a long-time IMRA member and stalwart of the Munster running scene passed away on 20 May 2017 after illness.

Mike was a great competitor and a winner of many races over the years. One of the nice guys Mike was always with a friendly word at races. A fine and versatile runner, Mike was usually to be found at the leading end of races but always encouraging others in the field.

Lots of the photos on his IMRA profile attest to his graceful running style. Mike loved his races – whether it was in the hills in Munster, in Connaught or Irish Championships or on the road, short, medium or long. He could often be found running multiple races on a weekend or even on the same day and being competitive nonetheless.

The IMRA and wider running community are shocked and saddened by the news of Mike’s passing. Our sympathies go to his family and friends and to the Munster running community.

RIP Mike
