Laura FlynnMay 6 2025, 8:47pmI’m looking for some volunteers to start signing up for this race. I’d especially like to fill the key roles of race-marker and lap-top please.
Laura FlynnMay 12 2025, 8:25pmThank you so much to Niamh and Cormac for volunteering to mark course and to others who have volunteered so far. Still need a good few more especially lap top.
Laura FlynnMay 28 2025, 9:56amThanks to all who have volunteered to help me at Brockagh next week. I’m still looking for a laptop operator. I know this is one of the best Wednesday night races and you’d all love to run it but I’d greatly appreciate someone stepping in.
I have enough volunteers otherwise and will let you know your roles early next week.
Also, I’m just finalising the parking arrangements so keep an eye on the race page. I’m hoping to get the free car park at Derrybawn to open late for us. There will be no parking at the race registration, other than limited parking for volunteers nor will there be parking at lynhams.
Miriam MaherMay 28 2025, 10:27amHi Laura

Signed up as laptop operator.

Thanks

Miriam
Jean O'NeillMay 29 2025, 1:19pmIs there a short course please? Thank you.
Laura FlynnMay 29 2025, 2:11pmThere will Jean. I’m just back from a course recce with Lillian and hope to get details of the short/junior course up shortly once I’ve checked a few things with Niamh and Cormac. It will start approximately 5 mins after the main race and will be between 5 and 6k ( to be confirmed). It’s a tough uphill but once you turn the journey back is fabulous with some great running and a nice tricky section at the end through the forest to slow you all down, avoid the fire road and give you something to talk about in the pub afterwards.
Laura FlynnMay 29 2025, 7:04pmThe short course will be 4.8km
Laura FlynnMay 29 2025, 7:07pmBig thanks to our very busy President for stepping into the laptop role.
Looks like I’m going to have a great team for next Wednesday. Thank you all so much.
I’m going to concentrate my energies on some fabulous spot prizes now and you’ll all be in the running.
Laura FlynnMay 29 2025, 7:11pmA couple more roles have arisen due to parking arrangements so I could do with 2 or three more volunteers please and thanks.
Laura FlynnMay 29 2025, 7:23pmDon’t forget the midge repellent for this race.
Laura FlynnMay 29 2025, 7:31pmIf you haven’t already done this route, recommended reading are the race reports from Mikey and Alasdair after last year’s race. A wee bit alternative but you’ll get the picture.
Laura FlynnMay 29 2025, 9:06pmWe have a limit of 220 on this race so fingers on the buzzers for Monday as it’s a popular one too.
Laura FlynnMay 29 2025, 9:36pmParking will cost €2 per car with proceeds to Mountain Rescue
Alice ClancyJun 1 2025, 9:16pmHi All,
We’ll be collecting kit at Brockagh registration for donation to trail runners who need it to get out on the hills. Have a look through your gear over the long weekend- if there’s anything that you don’t use that is in good condition, bring it on Wednesday … all bits and bobs appreciated- runners, jackets, running clothes etc etc.
thanks!
Laura FlynnJun 2 2025, 3:35pmI’ve just sent emails out to volunteers assigning you your jobs for Wednesday (other than first aid and laptop).
If everyone can be there at 6 pm we can get set up and distribute high vizs.
If you think you’ll be late or you have to pull out please let me know by email or text/what’s app. I won't be looking at the forum the evening of the race.
My number is zero eight seven 742zero 79five

Jenny Uí ShéJun 5 2025, 7:36amHi Jenny here as much as I wish I had come first on the f50 I didn’t!! I was an early starter!! Thanks
Jim DurhamJun 5 2025, 8:43amThanks to Laura and all the volunteers for a great night of running over a greatcourse.
Alan KennedyJun 5 2025, 9:31amThanks Laura, Niamh and crew for another great run up Brockagh and a very entertaining raffle after. Hopefully you will get a song or a joke next time!
Karl BourneJun 5 2025, 11:16amThanks Laura and crew (and the Midges) for a great evening of racing on the hills.

Loved the single track diversion away from the fire road at the end - another Niamh special. Keep those coming! Lovely varied route, and tough as per usual.
Laura FlynnJun 5 2025, 2:54pmWell done to Jeff and John Sheils on getting both the results and photos up so quickly today.
Thanks for the messages of thanks and thanks also to my volunteers last night. I was blessed to have assembled such a strong team. Every one of you were so helpful, so willing and so gracious. Míle buíochas daoibh go léir.
The marshals Nicola, Niamh, Arthur, Sandra, Syl and Greg had to the wind rain and intolerable midges to contend with and all done with great spirit.
Niamh and Cormac’s marking was impeccable as was the smooth running of registration with the help of Orla, Brenda, Iseult, Dee, Dave, Ger and Lorcan. Apologies to anyone confused by our moving registration to the start line. I could have made that clearer…lesson learnt.
Thanks to the ever-reliable Vivian for taking charge of the early start and to Monica and Brendan for manning the first-aid ward on what turned out to be a busy night.
Thanks to Lillian for helping with numerous important bits the week prior and on race day itself.
Finally, thanks to our laptop team of Gareth and Miriam and especially to Miriam for her calm presence and reassuring support for various matters which arose last night, not least in helping me figure out what path to send the runners on !!!
Laura FlynnJun 5 2025, 3:20pmThough our sum-up wasn’t working last night, the committee have kindly agreed to make a donation to Mountain Rescue based on the number of cars we had parked last night.
Liam CaseyJun 7 2025, 3:26pmJust wondering if a bum bag was handed in on Wednesday night.I think I must have left it by the fist aid station. It was a black Karrimor one with gloves and a foil blanket inside.
Thanks, Liam
Laura FlynnJun 7 2025, 4:09pmIt was Liam. It should be with the kit in the van so you can get at your next race.
You’re lucky, some people were looking for it to be thrown into the raffle at the prizegiving.
