Shane LynchJun 26 2025, 4:55pmWe're still looking for more volunteers for this race. We need a first aider in particular but some more helpers in general so we can have some marshals at critical points on the course. Early arriving running volunteers could man the entrance gate to the parking to collect parking fee and also to keep sheep in before heading to do your race.
Stuart ScottJul 1 2025, 12:19pmShepherd would make a nice new volunteer role!
Brian KitsonJul 4 2025, 9:21amAdvance planning query: is there a way to get to this race after work from Dublin city centre via public transport/car pool ?
Shane LynchJul 4 2025, 8:26pmWe are desparately in need of a first aider for the event to go ahead. If you can help, please sign up.

It takes 1 hour from the start of the M1/M50 junction to get to the event parking. If you know a good travel option such as a north side park and ride please share here on the forum.

For those of you that can make it, will get the pleasure of the fast, twisty and technical descent of Foyle's way. It was constructed and then reconstructed after the floods in November 2023 completly by local volunteers. Finger food and prizegiving will be as soon as possible after in the Lumpers.

I will email volunteers directly a few days before the event.
Clare KeeleyJul 4 2025, 10:05pmHi Shane, I have added my name to first aid, happy to help for Registration too. Clare
Jeff SwordsJul 4 2025, 10:23pmIt's a fantastic location and there's no better pub than Lumpers as a post race. The route Shane mentions that follows the river is a stand out of all Leinster races.

For once Northsiders or those working that side of the city are at an advantage in not having to deal with the length of the M50/M11 on a Wednesday evening and I think either the N3 Navan Road station, M3 Parkway station or Broombridge Luas depot are good spots for carpooling with any of us lucky enough to be on that side of the city to hook up with anyone coming from the city centre . All are short journeys from the city centre and at that point you've missed the worst of the M50 northbound congestion.
Shane LynchJul 5 2025, 8:48amThat's great Clare - thank you.

Thanks Jeff for the travel options and yes the Lumpers has become a "destination" pub.
Shane ArrowsmithJul 13 2025, 6:29pmDriving from Collins Ave/Whitehall area if anyone can get up here and needs a lift. Working up until go time, going to hop on the M1 around 5.30 - i don't want to head back towards town or the M50 at that time of the evening, traffic will be heavy. Let me know if I can sort you out.
Benjamin GoodallJul 14 2025, 10:43amHaving a problem purchasing an entry, when i go to buy it im getting message that it is no longer available.
Jeff SwordsJul 14 2025, 10:49amIs it already in your basket and it's stopping you adding to again?
Benjamin GoodallJul 14 2025, 10:59amNo, I've tried it on the web, and on the mobile, and the same result, nothing already in basket etc. Seems to only be happening in the junior accounts?

Error:
The product you selected could not be added to your basket. It is not currently available for purchase.
Shane LynchJul 14 2025, 12:49pmYou should be able to enter Juniors now without problem. (Thanks to Liam and the IT gurus!)
Benjamin GoodallJul 14 2025, 1:09pmCheers for that! All sorted.
Shane LynchJul 14 2025, 1:15pmThe Short course has been shortened to 5km. (Note: The GPS track on the event page starts 1km before the start). The short course competitors will wait until the Long course starts at 7.30pm then will walk/jog to their start (just after gate to open mountain) by following the long course markers. We plan to start the short course ~7.40pm.

Remember to bring along mandatory kit as on event page (instruction will be given at parking as to what will be required on the day, waterproof jacket is always mandatory!)

Hopefully the sum-up card payment system will be in operation at parking, if there is no reception there, a second sum-up machine will be in use at registration (in the marquee behind Lumpers).

Early start at 7pm.

Look forward to seeing you there on Wednesday!
Louis MulleeJul 14 2025, 2:25pmTrain and Bike option to avoid any M50 traffic, Dundalk train station is only a 30 minute cycle to the race start, and the train times work out if you want to bring the bike!
Shane LynchJul 15 2025, 5:25pmPlease note, the parking field has sheep in it, so if you find the gate is unmanned (possible after the race) please close it as you leave!
Joe LalorJul 16 2025, 5:02pmCrash on M1 at turn off to Carlingford, closed at moment.
Worth looking at alternative through Dundalk or maybe will be cleared in time.
Alan KennedyJul 16 2025, 5:15pmThanks for the heads up Joe.
Shane LynchYesterday, 12:12amHopefully everyone got home safely after a good race in the Cooleys. Foyle's way predictably had much praise and some reported a sighting of the Virgin Mary! The descent off Carnavaddy was also a crowd favourite!

Many thanks to all the volunteers. Donal as race marker, with good feedback of the marking from runners after. The parking assistants Carolone, John, Henny, Rònàn, Kathryn and Donna I'm sure were disappointed that they didn't have to double job as Shepards, but nonetheless herded the traffic proficiently! The experience of Rebecca and Conor on the laptops along with apprentice Ronan, meant that despite the later start times (due to traffic) and with some runners opting an early start rather than their registered later start, they could problem solve and fix quickly. The course marshalls had a particularly long time out on the hill, so much thanks also to Aoife, Laura, Ian, Wayne (and his daughter) and Tony. Shane J and Clare E volunteered their evening to be sweepers and de-mark the course. Clare K stepped in when the call was made for a first aider. Peter (and two more volunteers, sorry I didn't get your two names..?) jumped in on the night at the finish to ensure we had a backup paper set of results. Vivian helped with registration and the prize giving. Lillian brought much of the equipment to the race and assisted on the evening. Pól and Liam made sure that the things the race director forgot got done! Apologies if i left out anyone.
Jeff SwordsYesterday, 8:25amGreat race and evening, had everything, even someone crashing on the M1 and having it closed to give the real Wednesday night M50/N11 experience. Thanks Shane and crew.

Any issues with the results mail IMRAResults at Gmail dot com. If you're still down as having taken the regular start but went early/short etc let me know.
Miriam MaherYesterday, 8:26amMassive thanks Shane and your team of volunteers for putting on a sublime race route and a super evening overall!

The Cooleys are the lesser travelled to spot for the Leinster races, but they are so worth it. Thanks to Liam Vines for putting this fantastic set of hills firmly on the race calender this year.

Between the half marathon a while back and now this mid evening race route, both routes packed a punch in the climbs with the most enjoyable of descents. The last bit along the river last night was just fab.

I didn't even want to finish the race, it was so lovely along that stretch, and given my crawling pace, that was reflected in the results ;-). Mike Jordan pleading with me to be careful along the river paths as he passed me was my excuse for being just that so I could enjoy the surroundings even more! My latest war wounds have nearly healed - ready to go (or fall) again.

Also super to see some of the heat casualties from last Saturday on Trooperstown there last night, with Alan Kennedy out on the trails hale and hearty and Darron Tracey looking the picture of health as he marshalled near the finish.

Oh and Lumpers is a great spot for after the race. So all in, great night. Thanks to all that made it happen.
Colin McMahonYesterday, 8:40amGreat event and extremely well organised as usual. The trip down
From the top is magical . Well done to all involved
Alan KennedyYesterday, 8:55amThanks Miriam, was great to be back out and another great run in the Cooleys. Thanks to Shane, Pol, Rebecca, Donal and crew. Respect to our friends north of Dublin who have to battle their way south every week to attend races, so a little detour off the M1 was a minimal inconvenience. The later start only helped build the anticipation. A superb runnable route topped off again by the amazing run back along the river and over the many bridges. Lovely surprise to see Darron as the final marshal before the finish. Final thanks to Shane and our car pool gang from Santry, great chats on the way up and back.
Shane ArrowsmithYesterday, 9:18amThanks for stopping me killing everyone in the car right at the end, Alan! Still appreciated this morning!

Brilliant race and probably the most fun final 4k I'll do this year. Thanks Shane and all the gang in Louth. Love running up there.
Conor O'FarrellYesterday, 3:09pmDid anyone notice a pair of ("seeing", as opposed to "drinking") glasses in the pub at the end of the evening? I seem to have misplaced mine and I cannot get in touch with the pub to check.
