A record number of countries competed in the International Youth Cup in Gap France. Two Irish teams found the going hard after winning gold and bronze team medals in 2012. The girl’s team was led home by Aoife Mulroy (Swinford) in 20th position. In the team race only two points separated four teams between seventh and tenth with Ireland coming out on the wrong side! In the boy’s race, the Irish found the competition and the 30 degrees sun tougher and finished in 11th position. Chinnie Izuchukwu (Tullamore) was the first Irish finisher in his debut mountain race.
