It was hot and it was stuffy
No point getting in a huffy
Over missed carpooling opportunities
Explaining the loneliness
Of the drive to the start - not as toughy

As the cyclist who pedal
To maybe win a medal
At the race up prince williams seat
Ably organised by Vivian and his fleat
Of capable volunteers - and all

Runners got started
The fast ones quickly darted
Up the hill into the sun
A race to be won
The rest of us departed

More slowly around the course
With a little bit of goarse
A lot of glorious running
The views truly stunning
On the up and down parcourse

Everyone finished
A little diminished
By the heat and the hill
And the evening chill
Best ever sunset to view on the way home.
