There were some great performances by IMRA athletes in today’s national inter-club cross-country championships in Santry. Highest placed finisher was Sean Hehir (Rathfarnham) in eight in the senior men’s race. Barry Minnock (17th) combined with Sean for bronze team medals. Close behind and making significant improvement was James McFadden (Letterkenny) in 28th. With Gary Crossan in 38th they helped Letterkenny to fifth team overall and grade B winners.

Donna Mahon (Rathfarnham) had another great race to finish 10th, her highest placing ever. Mags Greenan (30th), Tara Whyte (31st) and Bronagh Ni Bhriain (32nd) all placed well for Clonliffe. Zoe Melling (Rathfarnham) was close behind in 35th.

Emmet Jennings (DSD) was best of the juniors in 10th place. Colm Murray (22nd) was on the Clonliffe wining team. Kian Jennings (DSD) in 29th, Sean Wall (Sportsworld) in 42nd and Tony Kavanagh (Clonliffe) in 43rd all ran hard throughout the race.

These performances have laid the foundations for good international results in the mountains this year and with some of these runners likely to run Crone Wood, the scene looks set for a hot pace up front in the last of the Winter league races.
