There were at least 35 IMRA runners among the finishers in the national 10 km road race yesterday in Navan. Fastest of them all was Barry Minnock in 31.36 for fourth place. Niall Coppinger (M45), Mags Greenan (W50) and Martin McDonald (M50) all won their age categories. Donna Mahon achieved her best ever time when taking the silver medal in the W35 category. Mary Jennings (W50) was third in her category.

Not far behind Barry with an excellent run was James McFadden in 32.02 and in the process adding his name to the shortlist for places on the European championships team. Letterkenny, Rathfarnham and Sportsworld were 3rd, 4th and 5th teams in the men's race. Clonliffe (8th), Rathfarnham (9th) and Crusaders (11th, led home by Sharlene Bell in a fast time) had complete women's teams. Rathfarnham and North Laois were runners-up in the masters women's and men's races respectively.

Elsewhere in Hamburg Brian McMahon ran a 2 hours 28 minutes marathon consolidating his 2:27 debut in Dublin.
