Full details in the Race Pack: 2023TriValleyRelayPack.pdf - update coming soon

Entry fee will be 36 euro PER TEAM.

Entries will open in early June 2024 and close two weeks before the event

The team captain for each team will purchase one entry and this will cover the three members of the team. Each team member will need to be a registered member for 2024. Membership is purchased separately from the race entry. Once entries close the Race Director will contact the registered captains individually to gather the details of their team members and their 2024 IMRA race numbers.

The handicap system will award a time bonus to runners from selected age categories and allow their team to start in advance of the official race start time (9:30am). First team across the finish line will be the winners.

The proposed handicap per runner will be:

  • Male Senior no time bonus applicable
  • M40 no time bonus applicable
  • M50 10 mins per leg
  • Female Senior 15 mins per leg
  • F40 20 mins per leg
  • F50 30 mins per leg
  • M60+ 30 mins per leg
  • F60+ 40 mins per leg
  • Thus the maximum handicap per team will be 2 hours, equating to a potential start time of 7:30am.

Start times for entered teams will be announced in the forum the week before the race once all team entries are received.

The start, finish & leg changeover area will be situated beside the Upper Lake Car-park in the Glendalough Valley.

Each team will carry a GPS tracker in a quick release belt, as done for the 2023 race and the Wicklow Way Relay. The handover of the race belt & tracker will be the changeover between the runners for each leg.

Three water stations will be located at each turn-around point on the route, i.e. at the Wicklow Gap, at Lough Dan, and at Glenmalure.

Leg 1: Glendalough to Wicklow Gap & back
    Distance: 14.6km
    Climb: 470m

Leg 2: Glendalough to Lough Dan & back

    Climb: 1,000m

Leg 3: Glendalough to Drumgoff & back

    Volunteers (Non-Running)

You need to have done 2 non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year to qualify for end of year prize

Please login to myIMRA to volunteer to help at this event. You should aim to volunteer at least once for every 10 events that you run.

    Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
