- Start at Silverstrand carpark. Run up the road for 1k then take the farmers track for another 500m and go out through the gate. From here you are on your own till you reach the col, which is the low point between the two peaks in front of you. Visibility depending of course. The 1k from the col to the summit will be marked with IMRA flags and this marked route must be followed both up and back to the summit. From the col it is free route back to the gate and down the road to the finish at Silverstrand car park
. From the gate to the col there is a faint track that brings you via the river to the col. But be aware in poor visibility there is also a few tracks that don’t bring you to the river
- Getting There:
Parking
Parking at Silver Strand Car Park: https://goo.gl/maps/6KGPyrr7iWiZpL4W8
From Westport head to Louisburgh. Go straight through Louisburgh and keep on the main road until you reach the Silver Strand which is signposted. This is a narrow road and it's possible to get caught behind slow moving traffic very easily. Be sure to give yourself enough time to get to the race in time for registration!
- Early Start:
- 12:30
- Organisers Instructions:
- The Route is marked from the col to the summit. This marked route is mandatory both ways. Runners must also pass in and out through the farmer’s gate. All fenced land is out of bounds.
Registration will be in Silverstrand car park and will open at 12 noon and will close at 12:50 to allow time for race briefing. Registration will go as follows. Sign in, number collection if its your first race of the year and kit check. NO KIT NO RACE
Please pack ALL of the level C kit into your bag. We will decide on the day what kit has to be carried.
Silverstrand is a 4hr drive from the M50 so please give yourself loads of time to make for the trip. We can’t delay the start of the race as we have to make the BBQ in Strandhill after the race.
Silverstrand can be a very busy place so please be courteous to all other users.
Be especially nice to the IMRA volunteers it is a long way to travel and not be able to race.
- Prizegiving Location:
- Silver Strand Car Park.
Volunteers (Non-Running)
You need to have done 2 non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year to qualify for end of year prize
Volunteers (Running)
Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
