The Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team are now recruiting new members to join the team. The team has a long history in mountain rescue going back to the An Oige MRT in the 60’s and we celebrated our 25th Anniversary in 2009. The team launched the first mountain rescue base in Wicklow in 2008, which is located in Roundwood Garda Station. The team provide a mountain rescue service primarily in the Dublin and Wicklow mountains area but also assist MRTs in other areas in Ireland.

The team are seeking enthusiastic individuals who are interested in working as part of a team to achieve high standards of casualty care in the mountains. The team are looking for people with a strong interest in mountaineering activities, specifically with a hill walking/climbing background. Good navigation and hill skills are required as well as the commitment to participate in regular training and callouts. The team provide a varied and interesting internal training programme with opportunities to attend specialised external training courses in mountain rescue techniques.

If you are living in Wicklow, South Dublin or surrounding areas and are interested in becoming a mountain rescue volunteer, please e-mail recruitment@dwmrt.ie before the 31st of January 2011 to express your interest and to receive an application form. New member selection and assessment will commence in February 2011.

Wayne JenkinsJan 18 2011, 9:04pmGood Man Brendan,

Keeping The Recruitment Drive fresh in peoples minds.

For those IMRA folk who I've spoken to about this. Follow through on your interest,
request an application form via....

Recruitment@DWMRT.ie

Get it back to us before January 31st & turn up at the Open Night in Roundwood
on the 28th.

There will be an assessment day on the hills soon after where the team
Will be looking at fitness & good navigation skills.

By this stage you will have a good understanding of what we do & what's expected from
you. If successful at The Hill Assessment day, you will be offered a place on The Probationary
Training Program. This is the point where you either take up the offer or decide it's not for you.

Either way we will both know where we stand & no one gets upset.

So as Brendan said above, if you're still thinking about it then get an application form
and take it one step at a time. There is a time commitment & plenty of training.
But it's all good fun & the Callout's are very rewarding.

Likewise feel free to give me a call if you have any questions. My number is out there but in case you don't have it ...... Oh 8 six Eight two 5 Eight five 32

Hopefully we will see a few of you soon

Regards

Wayne
