Eoin KeithAug 29 2012, 2:40pmThe UTMB (160km mountain run around Mont Blanc through 3 countries) is due to take place this Friday. As well as the UTMB itself there are 2 other races taking place, the CCC and the TDS. There is quite a smattering of Irish runners going over, a large proportion of which are IMRA members, myself included.

I've written a short summary of the main Irish contenders heading over which you can read here : http://eoinkeith.wordpress.com/2012/08/29/the-irish-head-for-the-utmb/

It's a spectacular race, probably the best running race I've ever participated in. It doesn't get much more mountainous than 9500m of climbing either!
John CondonAug 29 2012, 2:45pmBest of Luck Eoin!
Richard NunanAug 29 2012, 4:53pmBest of Luck to you all - look forward to tracking ye online for the weekend!!

Best of luck guys. Will be great to see the battles and banter between Mr. Keith and Mr. Tierney especially! Amazing stuff lads, even to have racked up enough points to qualify to be able to stand on the start-line marks you out as complete savages. More warnings of extreme cold coming in so wrap up warm!

Jeff FitzsimonsAug 31 2012, 8:29amAdrian Tucker finished the TDS a short while ago in around 24 and a half hours. This means he has now completed all 4 races offered by the UTMB event, a real badge of honour he should be rightly proud of.

On finishing, Adrian was reported to ask for more races, they said there are no more! :)
Richard NunanAug 31 2012, 8:49amSavage Mr Tucker !!! Well Done...
Sam ScrivenAug 31 2012, 12:25pmThey have had to change the course for the UTMB because of awful weather conditions.

Good luck to the IMRA / Irish lads. Must be about as tough as it gets!

Paul MahonAug 31 2012, 2:35pmBon chance out there tonight & tomorrow lads and well done Adrian.

Will be nice for you to kick back and enjoy the rest of the weekend whilst the rest of the lads tackle the rough weather up dem hills :-)
Jeff FitzsimonsAug 31 2012, 3:11pmMet Adrian a short while ago, looking like he had only had a bit of a training jaunt yesterday!

The UTMB lads are dealing with the last minute changes and looking forward to getting started. I will post an update or two from along the course, I am glad to be watching and not running, you need to be teak tough to start these races in conditions like these, let alone finish.

Barry Murray is going strong in the CCC, which started this morning, around 60th position the last I saw.
adrian tuckerAug 31 2012, 10:01pmbarry murray finished ccc in 34 th place. bravo!
Ronan HickeySep 1 2012, 12:50amCurrently Eoin Keith is in 29th and Paul Tierney is 65th. By the sounds of the conditions the lads are giving a master class in how to HTFU! Savage stuff!
