Justin O'Keeffe | Nov 5 2012, 10:29am | A friend of mine studying at UCD is doing some research work on Hill running, any responses directly to Cathal would be greatly appreciated; he is looking to about 10 responses to the 6 questions below in the next day or so - thanks all ________________________________________________________________ : My name is Cathal Jordan, I am an undergraduate student of Information Studies and Geography in University College Dublin. I am conducting a small study into societal changes that may or not be amplified by the use of information technology. Mountain Running is a niche activity passionately pursued by a diverse range of people. As such it is an interesting case with which to think about ‘networks’ and ‘communities’. In order to help me think about this I would like to ask you a few questions. The answers you give will be treated as confidential and will not enter the public domain or be passed onto a third party. If you wish you can fill your answers in below and email them to cathal.jordan@ucdconnect.ie. If you prefer me to ring you at a time of your convenience, call or send a text to 086 3840969. Yours answers can be as long or short as you wish. Please don’t worry about spelling or grammar, it’s not important. Questions : 1. In what area of the Ireland do you live? 2. To what extent did you become aware of mountain running as an activity through the internet? 3. To what extent has the internet facilitated your attendance at mountain running events? 4. Have you got to know people in the mountain running community? 5. Has your connection with those people extended beyond mountain running? (Friendship, business or other activities) 6. Have the people with whom you have built connections tended to live near you or further away? |
