| Rene Borg | May 17 2014, 1:02pm | Starting new thread as I cannot post to the old one for some reason: UPDATE ON RUNNER REGISTRATION I am getting a lot of questions on registration of runners without numbers that are on your teams, so after clarifying with the Committee this is the process: 1. If your runner already has a number then we can take it that they have registered for the year either online or at a race (no action) 2. If not however they can choose to pay their 10 Euro normal yearly registration and register either at a race or online (preferably online) and get a number. 3. If they are only going to run this race or do not know if they will run again or just don't want to register for the year then THEY DO NOT NEED NUMBER (this is a change) The team disclaimer will substitute for the personal disclaimer, so all team captains please make sure everyone in your team has read that. This means that no forms should be send to me and no forms should be brought to the start this year. For the runners who want to run unregistered just leave them as that in the form you will have filled out by now. |

| Rene Borg | May 25 2014, 5:27pm | NEW RECORD ON LEG 7 This year saw 'only' one new record (compared to three last year) but it's a special one! On a day with slippery conditions: Tim O'Donoghue of East Cork ran 1:14:49 to break his own record of 1:16:13 (set last year). 29 teams competed (the lowest since 2007) and Rathfarnham's win was their third in the 'modern era' (2008-2014) although they have won it before in the 2002-2007 period. In the same period Rathfarnham have won 3 silver medals (4 if you consider the strong Rathfarnham contingent in TT Racers yesterday). Also for the second year running five teams broke under 8 hours (this hasn't happened since 2007) making this one of the most competitive years. The record breaking year of 2011 had four teams under 8 hours whereas the two first 'Battles of the Big Clubs' produced 4 teams under in 2009 and 3 under in 2008. Had East Cork not gotten lost we would have had an unprecedented six teams break the barrier as 'a normal' leg 1 performance would have secured them a finish time of somewhere between 7:33 and 7:45. |
