Gerard CunninghamSep 22 2014, 9:55pmHi all

if you are already suffering withdrawal symptoms from competitive hill-running at this time of year, or if would like to try the navigation races next year, why not get out and try the orienteering races over the coming months.

This year the orienteering version of the "Leinster League" is introducing a "red" course option specifically aimed at adventure and hill runners new to orienteering. Red course will generally be from 5-7km and involve fairly basic navigation along linear features such as tracks, fences, rivers etc. All the Leinster League events will have a range of seven courses including short 1.5-2.5km courses for children.

Upcoming events in some familiar and not so familiar places include...
28 Sep Three Rock (Red course 5.1km)
12 Oct Glenreemore, Wicklow Gap
26 Oct Castlecomer Park, Co Kilkenny
09 Nov Carraig na Seabhac, Glenmacnass
07 Dec Curragh, Co Kildare

Also don't forget the last of this years mountain bike orienteering races takes place on Three Rock this Saturday 27th Sep (start anytime from 11:00 to 12:00). There are also a series of "Come and Try It" events in local parks from Marley (05 Oct), Griffeen (29 Nov), and Corkagh (14 Dec).
