Phil Hodge | Dec 12 2016, 10:00am | Liam, congrats and well done on a fantastic achievement. I failed in my attempt during the summer due to nav issues during the night - so to have spent so much time in darkness - I take my hat off! |
John Ryan Preston | Dec 12 2016, 11:23am | Cracking job. Congrats. Recover well |
Brendan Lawlor | Dec 12 2016, 11:28am | A new chapter in the history of the Wicklow Round was written at the weekend when Liam Vines completed the first Winter Wicklow Round (and also became the first double Rounder). Many have attempted and failed at this challenge in mid Summer, with night navigation problems often the main difficulty. Liam had to navigate in the dark for at least 13 hours which is a serious test of skill and concentration. Big congratulations to Liam and his brilliant support crew led by the indomitable James H Cahill - his fee for future rounds has reportedly trebled on the back of this latest achievement ! |
Paul Morrissey | Dec 12 2016, 2:26pm | Awesome stuff Liam Vines! Mid winter with all that darkness, factors that set this apart from any other Round attempt so far. Solo too! Hard to think how you could make this any more difficult, a one legged Round maybe? A mighty effort. I am looking forward to buying you a pint and toasting your success. |
Brian Kitson | Dec 13 2016, 11:31am | Art O'Neill Champ and first Winter round, that's some way to bookend a great year for you. Well played |
Karen Devenney | Dec 13 2016, 12:11pm | Congratulations just doesn't seem to cut it, can't wait to see what you do next Liam! Result is up:) |
Peter Bell | Dec 13 2016, 6:38pm | Well done Liam, impressive stuff. |
James Clancy | Dec 14 2016, 4:08pm | Amazing effort Liam, very well done!!! Incredible achievement. |
