Runners will have to supply their own map for these events. A list of 6 figure grid references and control site descriptions will be given out at start of race. To make the races as inclusive as possible 5 minutes later a master map may be inspected for those worried that they have transcribed the GRs correctly. Another change will be that the overall winner of the series will be the runner with the shortest accumulated time in all three races |

John Murray | Apr 30 2019, 9:37am | --------------------------------------------------------- Nice one Joe...this should be even more fun! Thumbs up! Ps: Can I ask if a rule can be brought in that Shane Lynch must complete one of the NC Races Blind-folded!!! lol --------------------------------------------------------- |
Mike Jordan | Apr 30 2019, 11:19am | Thanks Joe. Shortest accumulative time is a good idea I think. In terms of grid references for controls, if anyone wants a quick how-to on plotting a grid reference onto a map just ask me at a race over the summer. Or we can do a session 20 minutes before the start of the nav challenge. Here are some resources for grid references: http://www.mountaineering.ie/_files/Grid%20Reference.pdf https://www.thebmc.co.uk/how-to-take-a-grid-reference |
