Mikey Fry | Nov 22 2021, 12:13pm | So you’ll be making the mince pies this year I hope brendan:)) |
Andrew Hanney | Nov 22 2021, 2:11pm | Sure isn’t this the run with no details? :) |
Brendan Lawlor | Dec 2 2021, 9:00am | Solstice Run on Tuesday 21st Dec at 7pm , route as in 2019 Starting at Ballinastoe Car Park, head into the forest , take first right and then 400 m later take a left up to the fire break, keep going out onto the open mountain, head up with the forest fence (most of the forestry has been felled) on your left until you meet the Wicklow Way sleepers, head right up to White Hill and then onwards to the summit of Djouce, back the same way If you have to ask a lot of questions this probably isn't for you.If its your first time on this best to stick with someone who knows the route. Pub may or may not happen, we'll see closer to the date Splitters are more than welcome to organise morning runs, etc knock yourselves out This is NOT an official IMRA event |
Peter O'Farrell | Dec 2 2021, 10:18am | It might suit some of ye to salute the sun at 08:38hrs on Fairy Castle in the morning. Go up any way you want. And just to note - with the solstice is at 15:58hrs and the sunset at 16:08hrs a winter solstice run from 15:30hrs could be the right job this year, one for the splitter's splinter group maybe :) Enjoy the evening run. |
Jim Fitzharris | Dec 20 2021, 5:29pm | I would like to do this but was planning on hiking the route rather than running it. Are there any other takers as I would like some company? The plan would be to leave Ballinastoe no later than 6 pm. Cheers, Jim. |
Brendan Lawlor | Dec 21 2021, 3:32pm | Hi Jim There are a few heading up at 6 so you won’t be on your own.. enjoy ! |
Brendan Lawlor | Dec 22 2021, 8:04am | Tommy the great Hillrunner Had a very shiny Coat And if you ever saw it You would even say it glowed Some of the IMRA runners Used to laugh and call him names They never let poor Tommy Join in any IMRA games Then one foggy Solstice Night Brendan came to say Tommy with your coat so Bright Won't you guide us up tonight Then all of IMRA loved him As they shouted out with Glee Tommy and your bright jacket You'll go down in history ! |
Alan Ayling | Dec 22 2021, 9:24am | It seems not content to "go down in history", Tommy actually went down on the run itself, three separate times... Thanks to everyone who helped me look for the missing car keys last night. The moral of the story is this - make sure to do up your zip or something important may fall out. |
