JUDITH ROBINSONDec 17 2023, 4:52pmWill this be a multistage event with accommodation each night?
Robbie WilliamsDec 18 2023, 6:47pmNo
The clock starts in Wicklow and Stops in Kerry

All participants need to have a crew. What you do with you time is up to you in terms of sleep, booking accommodation etc.

The race cost to enter will be low just to cover the essentials.

All support must come from your own crew.
Wayne McGuiganDec 18 2023, 8:10pmI am 100% in! So what way does the route work out, is it made up with checkpoints to hit along the way, flexible or does everyone stick to the same route the full way.
Patricia HannonDec 18 2023, 8:27pmWould it be ok to take a day out during the week but still finish it by the last day?
Dara O'BrienDec 18 2023, 8:33pmIs there a qualification standard for this?
Robbie WilliamsDec 19 2023, 5:16amNo qualification standard.
Just remember your crew are minding you.

Re : taking a day out, not sure that can be done to be honest. There will be “checkpoints” to pass through which will mainly be for instance; Clonegal (end of Wicklow way) then Dunlavin (start of South Leinster Way). You will have to navigate between those points yourself.

All participants are generally going to be on the same route, which is following the Ways. And you can choose what line you wish between them but obviously all under your own steam.

There will also be a relay option;
As this is a novelty event (prob once every 4 years) you can have a team of any number. Just pass the tracker over to the next member to continue whether that is after 40k or 200k up to ye.

Let’s not over complicate this. Self sufficient (with crew) start with bell at start, finish as soon as you can on other side of country)

Robbie WilliamsDec 20 2023, 3:55pmThere is a book with pretty much the route on it.
The Irish Coast to Coast Walk by Cicerone
Dara O'BrienDec 22 2023, 9:35pmI see that my home town of Graiguenamanagh is on the list of stops for the south Leinster way (Kildavin, Borris, Graiguenamanagh)

Just thought it would be good to let you know that we now have a riverside sauna called the hot box, right on the bridge crossing, runners can book in for a session at a time that suits and then use the pontoon to do a plunge into the Barrow river.

I also know a local sports masseur who would be happy to look after runners if needed.

Finally, if anyone wants to do a recce on the south Leinster way, give me a shout

Dara
