Mike Holden | Sep 14 2024, 3:00pm | Hi I've only just joined IMRA and the Glen of Aherlow Half Marathon on Saturday 21st Sept will be my first IMRA event. I notice that two of the items for sale in the shop are a replacement chip and a replacement number. So does this mean that as a newbie I will be issued with an initial chip and number on the day? I'm just asking because I've had no communication with anyone since joining and I'd rather not leave it to chance that someone will be thinking to bring such things along for me.Please let me know if there's anything that I need to do in advance of next Saturday. Looking forward to meeting some of you. Mike |
Kate Flynn | Sep 14 2024, 3:34pm | Hi Mike, Thanks for the message, two good relevant questions. The 'replacement chip' purchase is from our old timing system (updated this year) so you don't need to worry about that for now. When each member registers they are given one race number which they keep for the year and bring to each event. Should you loose / damage the number you have the option to purchase a replacement. When you arrive at your first race you can pick your number up there. Our new timing system is a foam sticker that sticks to the back of your race number. We haven't rolled this out to every event yet, at the race registration the volunteers will clarify whether the new system will be in use that day. Best of luck and enjoy the hills! |
Stephen O Keeffe | Sep 14 2024, 3:36pm | Hi Mike. Races in Munster don't use chip timing so no need to buy one unless you plan on doing races in Leinster. You will get your number on the day of the race at registration. Hope this helps, Stephen |
