Stephen CollinsApr 1 2025, 6:00pmHi. Does anyone have a GPS file that can be downloaded to a Garmin watch for this route?
Graeme RomerApr 2 2025, 8:56amThanks Robbie, will await the details on that, much appreciated, Graeme
Michael McSweeneyApr 2 2025, 7:59pmStephen,
If you open the Plotaroute Map on the event page, there is an option to download a GPX file in the drop down menu.
Peter DoyleApr 4 2025, 10:55pmHi - I'm contemplating this race as its an ultra I've not done before. However, information on it seems quite scant given that this appears to be just its 2nd year.
As an unmarked route how familiar do you have to be with the route? I've never run in the area before so is this a severe disadvantage or is route to run fairly clear? Obviously I can download the gpx file and use that but don't like the idea of having to 100% rely on that.
See there is a info in the Organisers Instructions section of the 2024 race regarding cut offs and aid stations but based on the results seems that the 10hr cutoff for finishing was waived last year as many finished after that time - is that likely to be the case this year as well?
And finally, what is available at the aid stations? Do runners need to be fully self sufficient in terms of carrying all food & drink or will there be food/ drink or drop bag options available at aid stations?
Sorry for all the questions! Perhaps the need for the questions is a good hint that the event is not for me :-)
Robbie WilliamsApr 5 2025, 10:32pmDetails updated now on page
Andy owensApr 6 2025, 5:21pmHi all, you must remember that this ultra is 11klm longer than when Derek walked this route. So the finishing time should be a bit more generous.

Richard KilfeatherApr 13 2025, 5:45pmHi Robbie thank you for all the organisation looking forward to the event is it possible to get a drop bag at 51km Road Crossing to Eastern Hills also ?
Imogen BoadenApr 17 2025, 3:23pmPeter Doyle, I ran this ultra last year for the first time without a watch and managed to get round using my rough map and following those who looked like they knew what they were doing. I did get a wee bit lost but that's another story! It's a great race and I'd highly recommend it.
Thanks Robbie for organising the camping. See you there.
Brian MullinsMay 3 2025, 9:04pmThanks to Robbie and all the brilliant volunteers dotted about the course today. The route is a proper test and the strong headwind for pretty much all the bits up high made sure you earned the finish and congrats to all that did make their way back to Mount Mellary.

The ground was amazingly dry, much more so than last year and it led to good going if you could stoop low enough below the heather to avoid the wind!

No report for this one as mine tend to be long for the short races so God knows where the word count would end up with for something like this.
Kristen O'SullivanMay 3 2025, 10:21pmThanks to Robbie and the team of volunteers for putting on this great event. Was lovely to see so many friendly faces along the courses!
Robert CunninghamMay 4 2025, 11:00amI want to say a massive thank you to all the volunteers on the course they were amazing.
This is a fantastic race, a real test. The trails and all the summits are great. The weather probably helped as it was so dry. There was a GREAT section towards the end that had me questioning reality., won't stop me coming back next year.
Thanks again for a great event.
