Keelin Holmes | Apr 2 2025, 8:52pm | Hi everyone ! I've been wearing Altras for all my runs which I love, but I'm interested in trying Inov8s , has anyone any recommendations as I'll probably have to buy online ! Thanks Keelin , also I live beside the beach, so any recommendations for this terrain would be very appreciated! |
Brian Eastwood | Apr 3 2025, 10:28am | Hi Keelin. I've got the talons and they are great in the mud but not so great on the fireroads. Be careful when ordering online as there is a fake inov8 Ireland website that has prices too good to be true. |
Warren Swords | Apr 3 2025, 10:43am | The Mudtalon speeds are great and are bullet proof in my experience. Great for...mud. Probably overkill for any sort of hardpacked trail but for anything soft or wet, they are excellent. Given you wear Altras, they come in zero drop too. |

The 280's are more streamlined and I have used in IMRA league races in all conditions. The G300 are a sturdier shoe designed for longer distances. Both have a medium width toe and good lugs. These editions seem to have avoided the classic Inov-8 tearing across the top of the shoe. The soles have graphene and are very durable. For the beach, the 280's would work well. |

Dave Docherty | Apr 3 2025, 10:35pm | I'd second the the Mudtalon speed. And if you're an Altra guy go for the new wide fit. The removable insole is about 8mm thick at the heel and 5mm at the toes. Without the insole there is lots of room, but the heel lock does a great job and I haven't had any blister issues, unlike with altra. There is a massive difference in ground feel between the regular Mudtalon and the speed, dispite on paper both having the same sole. The are very grippy, perfect Wednesday night race shoe, although can be a little slippy on wet granite and the like. Just breaking in my second pair now. Got about 800km out of em before the lugs worn down to bald under the forefoot. Hope this was helpful. |
