Shoe repair

Kate McMullanApr 15 2025, 10:32pmHi all, does anyone know of someone who can repair/re-use trail shoes? I seem to remember there was a pop up at one of the summer races last year. Many thanks.
Robert WarmanApr 15 2025, 11:03pmI used https://www.isaacjackman.ie/#about-home to put a new sole on a pair or road trainers after my weird gate wore out the sole before the foam gave out. They also do hiking boots and all sorts, so worth a look (if you’re in Dublin).
Robert WarmanApr 15 2025, 11:11pmOr gait!!! My gate isn’t weird at all.
Anna-May WoodsApr 16 2025, 11:54amHi Kate, my brother runs Tutty’s Handmade shoes https://www.tuttys.ie/

They make and repair shoes as well as re sole trail runners. He has re soled a couple of pairs for me with different lug depth and I find them great, he’s even turned a pair of Nike Invisibles into trail shoes for me.
Kate McMullanApr 16 2025, 12:14pmFantastic! Thanks Anna-May and Robert.
Elva DonnellyApr 16 2025, 12:36pmJoining this late but that's amazing Anna May - great to know somewhere that does good repair and rework (and close to me). I have an old pair of now discontinued fellraisers I could sleep in for comfort, but soles run off them...off to Tutty's I go.

Disclaimer: I am a Naas native and swear I did not know this before today, nor is this a not a plug for the wonders of our town. I have not been paid for this promotion but FYI.... 'Welcome to Naas, a nice place to shop'

;-)
Maike JürgensApr 16 2025, 12:53pmfabulous to know regarding resoling - will you leave feedback once done? could we organise a collection and drop off maybe even at a few races?

I have ordered a home repair kit for shoe uppers from pair.ups in the UK but not tried it yet. They have a website and social media, price seemed very reasonable.
Brian KitsonApr 16 2025, 1:44pmThe existentialism of a shoe which had the upper repaired and the bottom resoled. Can one provide feedback on something that doesn’t exist? Trigger’s broom.
Anna-May WoodsApr 16 2025, 3:42pmI personally find them great, comfortable and durable, I’ve got a lot of wear from the first pair he re soled for me, so far no issues.

I’ll be at Belmont next week and doing the Wicklow Way relay too. You’ll spot me in the blue soles. Happy to do collections at the Leinster Leagues Wednesday nights. Thanks for plug Elva, it’s the family business, was my grandads and then my dads and now my brother has taken over and expanding into new things, hence the trail soles. Ideal if you have an old pair you love and obviously is more sustainable than throwing out our worn out runners. They also do orthotics.
Avril ChallonerApr 16 2025, 3:58pmI can also recommend Tuttys in Naas - they repaired a ripped upper for me a few weeks back which is giving some extra life into a pair of Inov-8s. I have also used Isaac Iackman for new soles and he did a great job on some shoes that had lugs worn out.

Anna-May / Maike a shoe repair collection and drop off is a great idea! I'll be at Glacier Lakes and am living in Naas for a few months so also happy to drop shoes/collect from Tuttys for anyone who will be at the race.
Rob TobinApr 16 2025, 5:13pmIt is great to find out about this service. Recently made the mistake of overtightening cord laces on a pair of trail shoes and tore nearly all the eyelets out of the uppers in one go. I've held on to them in hope of having them repaired as they are otherwise in good nick and have a few more battles in them. And a business website with a testimonial from none other than Francis Brennan? I'm sold!
Elva DonnellyApr 16 2025, 9:21pmBrian - Triggers Broom ha yes cue someone in future claiming 'I've had these exact same shoes since 2025 and I've run 1,000,000km in them'.
