Jeremy Kelleher | Apr 21 2025, 9:30am | Hi, entries are now open for the Gougane Barra race. Details are updated on the event page. |
Maire O'Sullivan | Apr 27 2025, 4:07pm | Thanks so much to Jeremy for today's race - an epic run! Mud & mountains, streams & stiles, mist & marsh(shalls), sweating & swearing. Thanks to all the volunteers but specifically to Eddie who hollered "turn left Máire" after me as I meandered off on my own route, to Michéal who rocked the orange bivvy on top of a rock, and to the poor misfortune who was literally lying under a peat hag at the summit to try to get some protection from the weather as he pointed us in the right direction. Great to get support & have chats with all the friendly marshalls en route. It was pointed out that I'd save a few minutes if I chatted less and ran more but where's the fun in that? Anyway, at my pace of running, its not like the ladies at the front of the race are under any kind of pressure from me if I improved by 2 or 3 minutes! Had a shoe actually sucked off my foot at one stage and there was an epic battle between myself and the bog as I tried to wrench it up and the mud tried to suck it down. Thankfully it ended Máire 1, Mud 0 Such a great day out! |
Dáithí de Mórdha | Apr 27 2025, 8:03pm | Thanks to Jeremy and all the volunteers, it was mighty as usual. The bog wasn't satisfied with just my shoe Máire, it tried to swallow me whole! A highlight of the calender every year |
Brian Mullins | Apr 27 2025, 8:46pm | Report up. This time it’s different but not in the way you think. |
Patricia Ryan | Apr 27 2025, 9:34pm | Thanks Jeremy and all the volunteers. This was my first time running here and I thought it was a brilliant route, even while minding a little injury. Eddie had a great time laughing at us getting swallowed by the bog. Another enjoyable day out. |
Brian Flannelly | Apr 28 2025, 6:09am | Results are now up for this event - any questions/queries on them, please email: brian <dot> flannelly <at> imra <dot> ie |
Jeremy Kelleher | Apr 28 2025, 5:15pm | Hi, just want to acknowledge and thank the volunteers, landowners, runners and supporters that make the event happen on the day. And also big thanks due to the IMRA people behind the scenes looking after the entries, website, social media, equipment, van, results, insurance (and other stuff I've forgotten or probably don't even know about). Hopefully see ye in Gougane again next year. |
