Graham K. BusheApr 24 2025, 2:22pmHi all, After a super start to the Leinster League last night, I'm looking ahead to Round 2 ... Big Sugarloaf.
With Trail race next week, Sugarloaf is just under 2 weeks away.

I'm putting the call our for some more volunteers please
Graham K. BusheMay 1 2025, 10:50amGood morning everyone.
Thank you to all those that have signed up to help with this race. We should be well sorted now.
Please look ahead to some of the other races coming up. It is great, from the RD's point of view, to see the names popping up, making forward planning just that bit easier.
So, if you are considering helping out, please do. It has been said so often before, it is a great way to see what happens in the background, and a great way to meet and see all the runners.

Next Week is Big Sugarloaf!

Updates to follow over the next couple of days.....

Pierre OLIVIERMay 6 2025, 4:55pmHello! Looking for carpooling options if anyone is leaving from City Centre or anywhere reachable by public transportation? Thank you in advance!
Graham K. BusheMay 6 2025, 5:38pmHi All,
Entries are coming in nicely for this one.
I hope you are all looking forward to a lovely challenge, and rewarding spectacular views.

Remember the carpool option if you can. We are a bit light on this at the moment. It is a great way to meet other runners for pre-race chats, and of course the post-race analysis!
Parking will be in the adjacent field, and the usual fees will apply.
Make sure you pass through the registration process, not skipping any step.
We will process you as quickly as possible, so no queue hopping please.
There will be an early start.
Bring the items on the Level B kit. On race day I will make a decision on what is required. Remember the kit is for the safety of all runners. Whether you are out for 40 minutes or 2 hours. The nature of Sugarloaf is that you will not be moving fast for some sections, and it can get cool in the evenings still.

Remember the emergency phone number is on the back of your running number. It is forwarded to the Race Director, but ONLY for PHONE CALLS.
If you need to withdraw during the race, you must alert a marshal out on the course or me when you get back, to avoid us searching for any runner not unaccounted for at the finish.

There will be sandwiches and some drinks at the finish. Please remember to bring your own cup or similar.

We have a nice collection of goodies for the post-race raffle, thanks to the generosity of a few local businesses
Lucrecia MundoMay 6 2025, 8:12pmHi Graham, could you please send me the email for volunteering. I have not received anything yet.

Thank you!
John Murphy74May 6 2025, 9:04pmCan I ask what's is possibly a silly question about junior runners and carrying the kit? My daughter doesn't have a phone for instance.
Jean O'NeillMay 6 2025, 11:34pmThe Car Park is on the road to Roundwood from Kilmac? Anyone interested in carpooling from Kilmacanogye?
Alan AylingMay 7 2025, 7:29am@John Murphy 74 - not a silly question, but here's the answer:

Juniors will not be required to carry a phone. (In fact it's unusual for adult runners to be asked to carry a phone in a Leinster League race, but we keep it on the Level B kit for those cases so people will have it where it might be needed).

Aside from the phone, juniors should have all the kit in case it's deemed necessary. Bring everything on the list to the race, but only need to carry what's marked up on the board at Registration. Will definitely include a jacket, may also include the likes of hat/buff, possibly gloves, depending on the conditions, forecasted temperature etc.

The rationale here is that anyone - adult or junior - may end up out on the course longer than planned (injury, wrong turn, helping someone else in trouble). Any of those things can result in someone getting quite cold quite quickly, even on a seemingly benign evening. The mandatory kit is to ensure that runners can keep themselves reasonably warm if anything unforeseen happens.
John Murphy74May 7 2025, 8:01amThanks Alan, I appreciate the answer. Looking forward to later.
Kevin O'RiordanMay 7 2025, 9:33am@Pierre, if you can get yourself to Central Park Luas stop, I can give you a lift from there.
Vladimir RusinovMay 7 2025, 1:03pm@Jean, if you haven't found a lift yet, I'll be happy to pick you up. Please sign up in the carpool page
Vladimir RusinovMay 7 2025, 1:05pm@Pierre, if you can make it to Booterstown dart station it's very handy for me to pick you up. If that works same message - sign up in the carpool page.
Miriam MaherMay 7 2025, 1:22pmProbably a case of gremlins / glitches my end - but I couldn’t get the car parking location link to work from the event page so checked with the man himself - RD for tonight’s entertainment.

This link below sent on by Graham worked for me.

He’s busy out on the course prepping it for us!

Alan KennedyMay 7 2025, 10:46pmThanks Graham, James and team for a brilliant course. The amount of times I’ve run around there and never seen half the trails you took us on, amazing. Savage climb up those steps and that rocky descent is always scary, but fun. Great sambos and snacks after but the Ice Cream van is always a welcome treat.
Diane McConnellMay 7 2025, 11:39pmWell done to all… Graham, all the fellow volunteers, and to each runner out there. I have taken too many photos to deal with tonight so will continue uploading tomorrow evening.

Also…please… Lilian and 2 others going through my marshal point, plus the lead main start men- accept my apologies as I clumsily figured out how to efficiently multi task standing in the right spot, giving the Correct instructions and taking some photos.. I definitely added more to the challenge than you needed!

Delighted with a raffle prize tonight. Thank you to Amphibian King for that :)

Andrew MooreMay 8 2025, 9:20amThat was some serious craic. Seen trails around the Sugar Loaf that I didn't know were there.

Did a bit of gopro video of the course also

I don't know why, but you think you are going down fast on the hill but that camera never shows it. Ha!
Joachim PietschMay 8 2025, 11:20amThank you for a wonderful run. It was superbly organised. Many thanks to all the volunteers and race organisers
Graham K. BusheMay 8 2025, 4:24pmA huge “Thank You” to a super team of volunteers last night, that ensured a great race around and over Sugarloaf.
And while I started with a great plan allocating all the various jobs, everyone ended up juggling several roles to keep the show going smoothly.
James as deputy RD, Clare and Eoin S on laptop, Eimear and Lindsey on first aid.
John who had extra marking to do (on top of his own) as some of the flags I put out on Tuesday were removed at some intervening time.
Warren, Henny, Maeve, Diane, Gerard, Chris, Mark, Karl, Richard, Ben and Aoife were marshalling to keep everyone on track. Paddy sweeper and demarker with assistance from many of the marshals.
Eva, Martin, Ger, Angela, Lucrecia, Patricia, Cormac, Kate, Ben and Eamonn, who all did several jobs before during and after the race from parking , through registration, finish line and clearup.
And Eoin K who happened to pass too close to the finish line and was handed a clipboard and asked to help record the finishers.
And of course, Lillian who was helping in the weeks leading up to, and on race night too.
I had a trot around most of the route this morning, and apart from the additional footprints in some of the more remote areas of Sugarloaf, there is hardly a trace, so thank you to all the runners too.
Thanks also to the committee for their support. Notably Liam V, on hand from very early days, and a quick consultation with Alan A re kit, and Jeff on posting the results.
So, remember to volunteer where you can. It is a great way to see the planning and work that happens behind the scenes, meet all your fellow runners, and give a bit back to this great community we have.
I hope to see many of you out on the hills and trails over the coming months.

All the best, g
Graham K. BusheMay 8 2025, 4:56pm1K CHALLENGE RESULTS
Well done to Saoirse Brennan who took part in the 1km challenge in a speedy 6 minutes!! And thank you to James Heggie for looking after it.

Hopefully we will see more participants at future races, where available.
Sean ForsythMay 8 2025, 8:04pmThanks Graham and crew for a magic race. One of the best routes in the league and the view over the mountains when coming in the sugraloaf way was spectacular...for a second until I stumbled.
Daniel ToalMay 12 2025, 6:46pmThanks Graham for that killer route! I did a video of the race,
