Pedalling squares on the big ring

Brian MullinsMay 19 2025, 9:48pmOnce again my weak mind left my vocal cords uncontrollable and this summers European tour slipped out at the Beara Way Ultra. And I didn’t even enter McCarthys Bar for fear of it happening! So in the best traditions of media spin doctors I’m getting ahead of the non story! It was the sight of a floating toenail on top of a blood blister in Glengarriff that triggered an attempt at misdirection that Houdini would have been proud of when I mentioned my summer race schedule to the unfortunate onlookers as I butchered an attempt at solving a blister problem that even the wise experts at Tor would have had difficulty with. The victim of such butchery not witnessed in modern times outside of an abattoir was Mike. Mike will never walk again, sorry Mike!

But here is the 2025 version of the 2024 gift that keeps on giving tour that almost succeeded. It is the training plan of the future, ahead of its time!

Again it is purely posted as a stick to beat myself with to ensure all efforts are redoubled and that the task is within my powers. Maybe!

"Here comes the summer".

Mike JordanMay 20 2025, 6:39amBrian, once the sock came off I knew I was in bother. In your defense, I was the guy with zero sleep asking the volunteer with 10 minutes sleep to go ahead and lance my toe it at 5am. The issue wasn't your handiwork, it was that I knew the toenail was detached as soon as it was done. Too much information? I'm still trying to justify a DNF here!
Oh and I can walk. As for running - anyone know how long it takes to grow a toenail?
Thank you and all the volunteers efforts down in Beara and best of luck with your summer's adventures...
Alan KennedyMay 20 2025, 9:55amHi Mike, my big toe nail took a year to grow back after Snowdon, but it's a different colour now and a different shape!
