McCormack & Hanna Shine on World Stage

In recent weeks IMRA internationals have had significant performances in international events.

Sarah McCormack continues to lead the charge. She followed up a 16th place finish at the European Mountain Running Championships in Zermatt, Switzerland on July 7th with a stunning win on Snowdon on July 20th in round 4 of the WMRA World Cup of Mountain Running. Sarah was only about 10 seconds off the record time for the Snowdon race and fought a close battle with an Italian runner for the win. She now leads the standings in this competition with 3 of the 7 races remaining.

Zak Hanna had a similarly impressive showing in Zermatt, finishing in 19th, in only his 2nd year in the mountains on the international stage. He followed this up with 4th place on Snowdon, narrowly missing out on a podium placing and now sits in 5th place in the competition after 4 rounds.

In Zermatt the Irish senior men were lead home by Zak, as mentioned above, to finish 13th of the 18 teams. The junior men saw Ronain Maguire finish in 24th as the first man home, with the team finishing 8th of 12 teams.

For the junior women, Aoife Coffey had a strong run to finish in 22nd, the team ending up in 10th position of the 11 teams. The senior women were lead home by Sarah to finish 12th of 15 teams.
