Greg ByrneJul 29 2017, 10:25pmGlendalough Clover 3 Leg Relay Race

Entry is now open for the Glendalough Clover Relay. Team captains can purchase entry for their teams through their myIMRA account. They should then register their team details using the online entry form available at:

https://goo.gl/forms/njA51BcggIc6wPtG3

The event will be a relay race covering a total of 80 km on way-marked trail. Total Ascent/Descent will be in the region of 3,000 metres.

There will be no open-mountain navigation required, but it would be advised to recce the course beforehand if possible. Full course details are provided in the Race Book available to download as a PDF through Race Details page on this website.

The start/finish and transition area between each relay leg will be the same location beside the car park of the Upper Lake in Glendalough. 3 water stations will be located at the Wicklow Gap, Lough Dan and Glenmalure.

There are basically 3 legs to the race, each leg starting and finishing at the transition area beside the upper lake in Gelndalough.

The breakdown of the 3 legs are roughly as follows:
(1) A loop of the Spink, then Out & Back to Wicklow Gap via St Kevins Way. (approx. 25km)
(2) Out & Back to Lough Dan, along the way-marked Wicklow Way until Oldbridge. (approx. 30km)
(3) Out & Back to Glenmalure via way-marked Wicklow Way. (approx. 25 km)

There will be two scoring systems used to assess the final team ranking,

The first will be will be the accumulated race time. That is to say that the first team home are the winners…etc… prizes will be awarded to the 3 fastest teams.

The second system will use race times adjusted using a bonus system outlined in the race pack on the events pages. All categories, except MS &M40 will attract times bonuses. Prizes will be awarded to the 3 top ranked teams.

Team are only eligible for one prize on the day.

Please use this thread for relay questions only. Questions or discussions for the solo event should be posted on the separate thread for the solo race.
Adrian Tucker RIPAug 19 2017, 11:10amEntries to the first ever running of the Glendalough Clover Relay remain open for one more week.
1 Team = 3 people,
See the event page and the link to the Race booklet will explain the options for Teams.
The individual leg distance and the terrain for each of the three legs of the GC Relay would be similar to the Morris Mullins Half, so plenty of options for the 200 entrants of that event to get together and create a few teams.
Gordon PlaceAug 22 2017, 12:12pmIf anyone is trying to put together a last minute team and stuck for a third runner, I'd be happy to do leg 1.

Greg ByrneAug 24 2017, 8:37amDetails of the diversion on Leg 3 have been uploaded as a photo. A small detour, that is well marked and provides a slightly shorter route overall.

If you have any questions then don't hesitate to get in touch.

And remember registration closes this Sunday night.
