Alan KennedyNov 2 2023, 9:04amHi Joe, what time do need helpers for and where do you want us to meet?
Joe LalorNov 2 2023, 10:05amHi, Alan, Eoin and John.
Reg opens at 9.30 but it won't get busy until around 10.
If your there by then that would be great. Hair pin bend on service road to upper carparking.
Joe LalorNov 3 2023, 6:15pmThat's it folks, entries are closed (49) and controls are out.
Weather no looking great, heavy rain is forecasted to be over by 10,
but lighter rain promised until 5mp.
As usual jackets (decent) are mandatory rest up to your discretion but be prepared for wind and rain.
Joe LalorNov 4 2023, 7:01amWeather looking worse that initially forecast.
Heavy rain due to ease, but not stop all day.
Event still on, possibility of reduced number of controls.
If heading out come prepared for conditions.
If meeting up elsewhere awkward come straight to start.
Andrew HanneyNov 4 2023, 3:53pmAm so glad this went ahead and that I got out of bed for it, listening to that pouring rain in the morning. In the end it was soft but not at all a bad day to be in the mountains. At times that lovely view of the city was peaking through the mist. Lovely cakes and refreshments at the end too and chats on who what where when why and how of finding controls.

Thanks to Joe, Nora and helpers. RDs for NAV challenges are a class apart as a lot more planning is needed and in addition they are under pressure to get everything in the right position. So thanks a lot to the three NAV RDs this year.
Richard LeahyNov 4 2023, 5:22pmA big thanks to Joe, Nora and team for giving me an opportunity to run in circles around various parts of Ticknock. Great spread afterwards and a special thanks to Mick Hanney for patching me up.
Alice ClancyNov 4 2023, 7:45pmA huge thank you to Joe, Nora and the volunteers for a fun and tricksy morning out on the hills! I ran in circles around a lake and up and down mucky paths id never seen before, hunting for those pesky controls!! Excellent course and delicious food after! This was a lovely series to return home to, looking forward to the spring league!!
Róisín McDonnellNov 4 2023, 8:30pmA big thank you to Joe and Nora and helpers today for the final nav challenge. It was a challenge from the get go for me trying to mark the map in the rain with a smudgy pen...thank you Nora for helping lots with an umbrella!!
Gerry McGuinnessNov 4 2023, 8:53pmThank you Joe , Nora and all the team. This was my first Nav challenge and challenging it was. I so enjoyed myself with the Help of Liam . Can't wait until next year's events . Thanks again.

Joe LalorNov 4 2023, 9:00pmWhat happened to my lovely formatting?
John Bell navigator of the year.
Peter FordeNov 4 2023, 9:47pmHi Joe, thanks for everything! Was a very enjoyable course. Im listed under the short course but definitely hit & stamped all 9 controls?
Peter O'FarrellNov 4 2023, 10:03pmThanks Joe, Nora and volunteers for a very enjoyable morning on Ticknock.
I thought I knew 3 rock pretty well but the actual well proved me wrong :)
A brilliant event.
Joe LalorNov 4 2023, 10:05pmHe Peter, have corrected that in results to go to results sec
You were incorrectly listed as short course on start list.
Peter FordeNov 4 2023, 10:55pmThanks Joe!
Maeve O'GradyNov 5 2023, 6:08pmThanks Joe and Nora and all helpers. It was a nicer day to run than to stand out waiting for us as we made multiple navigational and map marking errors! Great event.
Paul MahonNov 5 2023, 10:06pmGreat fun event on the soggy hills on a soft day.

Many thanks to Joe for all planning and prep with course, his team of helpers on the day and Nora for the goodies and treats which were most welcome when we returned.

Nice return to winning ways for Mike Jordan on the day and to John Bell for securing the Navigator of the year title and Mick Kellett Trophy.

Great battle for the Ladies in Long course with Roisin best on the day but Orla taking the title overall based on all 3 races :-)
Joe LalorNov 6 2023, 12:07amFinal overall result to NC series

John Bell 5:07
Peter Ford 6:15
Orla McEvoy 6:43
Róisin McDonnell 7:39
Steven Lavelle 10:44

It may seem a very small number of finishers
but it requires great commitment and home support to
turn out on three specific dates.

Congratulations to all.
Just to confirm " Navigator of the Year" is a genderless
award and only one winner.
Maeve was first lady on the day yesterday.
