Niamh O'CeallaighMay 29 2025, 6:58pmHi All,
We really need a race director for this one. Unfortunately I will be away on the day, but will be happy to give lots of support to whoever can take it on. It will be a straightforward one to RD.
Thanks
Niamh
Brian McGuckinJul 3 2025, 8:49amneed more volunteers for this, handy numbers available, turn up late, eat the sandwiches and leave early, it's cool!

Paul HeffernanJul 7 2025, 2:23pmLooking forward to the Trooperstown run next week, my first IMRA event. Weather is looking good too!!!
barbara murrayJul 7 2025, 8:28pmHi, will the course be clearly marked?I tried to follow the gpx but found it confusing
Brian McGuckinJul 8 2025, 8:01amHi Barbara,
The course will be well marked, we have our top marker on the job so look out for the tape, and hopefully if we have enough volunteers there will be some marshals on the course too.
Michael CollinsJul 8 2025, 3:54pmHi, basic question but this is my first IMRA run since last year - if I register and buy the annual membership do I then pick up the new race bib at check in on Saturday? Also is it okay to bring along the same timing chip as last year? Thanks
Mark ByrneJul 8 2025, 5:21pmThanks a lot Brian
Eoin KeithJul 8 2025, 5:50pmHi Michael,

https://www.imra.ie/beginners/

You will pick up your number at your first race, as it says in the FAQ. Last year's chip is no longer any use. If you need a new one it will be attached to your race bib for this year when do your first chip-timed race (They are pre-attached for most numbers issued in Leinster)
barbara murrayJul 8 2025, 6:26pmWill I be given a bib on the day? It will be my first race of the year. Thanks
Michael CollinsJul 8 2025, 11:18pmGreat thanks Eoin
Brian McGuckinJul 10 2025, 11:25amWe could do with a laptop operator for this and maybe a few more helpers
Thanks.
Pól Ó MurchúJul 10 2025, 12:21pmI’m running but can help with Reg and laptop set-up if someone wants to step into the role of Laptop/Shadow Laptop. I can help tidy up results etc. Once I finish provided there are also some manual results/tracking as back up should work ok. Unless of course you get someone else happy to do the whole thing.
Laura FlynnJul 10 2025, 1:21pmIf a running volunteer is any good to you Brian I can put my name down?
Brian McGuckinJul 10 2025, 1:44pmAny help at all is much appreciated, Thanks
Laura FlynnJul 10 2025, 1:51pmJust added myself there now Brian
Tristan PretoriusJul 11 2025, 4:07amHi there,

I’m a visiting runner from South Africa planning to run the Trooperstown & Clara Vale Loop on Saturday. I was wondering whether all finishers receive a participation medal, or if medals are only awarded to top finishers and category winners.

Thanks so much for organising – I’m really looking forward to the event!
Brendan LawlorJul 11 2025, 5:48amNo medals Tristan, podium and age category winners get a gift voucher

For the rest it’s the glory of participation and the outside chance of a big win at the raffle.. Brian usually has a few arty farty bits to spice up his raffle so fingers crossed for you !
Brian McGuckinJul 11 2025, 1:48pmHi Everyone
Firstly special thanks to all the volunteers, it's much appreciated. Tomorrow is going to be hot so plenty of water, sunscreen and maybe you'd like to wear a nice hat, there will be no prize for best hat! please carpool as it's tight for space. be aware of heat exhaustion and if you feel unwell stop and get in the shade and ring the emergency number. there will be no prizes for heat exhaustion!
Lillian DeeganJul 11 2025, 6:14pmBumping RD Brian’s weather advisory msg back up here in advance of the morning.

And also on to push the car sharing request when I’m at it. Our area for tomorrow’s race has limited parking and there is usually plenty of hikers out ‘n about the area too.

Thanks all. See ye in no time at all to top up the tan lines :)
Laura FlynnJul 11 2025, 7:41pmWhat time do you want helpers to arrive in the morning Brian?

Brian McGuckinJul 11 2025, 8:13pmyes Just turn up Theresa, if the volunteers could be there by 9:30 that would be great

Rory CampbellJul 11 2025, 10:51pmJust signed up as volunteer Brian. last-minute I know. However won't be there til after ten. But I'm sure you'll find me a job
Colm DoolanYesterday, 8:30amHi all, can all runners avail of the early start?

EARLY START option at 10.30am (available to runners with a typical 160%+ runtime)
Kevin O'RiordanYesterday, 9:20amOnly for runners who are typically > 160% of the winner's time Colm.
Jeff SwordsYesterday, 2:50pmResults up, email IMRAResults at Gmail dot com for any issues.
Dilia HowardYesterday, 3:35pmThanks for another challenging race. Hope the participant who collapsed is safe and sound. Well done everyone!
Alan KennedyYesterday, 5:36pmThank you, thank you, thank you to everyone that helped me after the race today. The number of people that waited back to check on me was quite humbling. I knew the IMRA community was good but never imagined it was this amazing to rally around me and my fellow runner in need (sorry I forget your name). Too many people to thank. Brian, Terry and Paul for a great course, loved it.

But the real hero’s were poor Daniel, who signed up for FA expecting a few scrapes to patch. He did an amazing job with me while also attending to the usual post race issues, including., I believe even a broken toe? But I could have been hallucinating! Darragh, Paul, Declan and Alan just kept checking in. And then the ladies took over, Clare and her possie were just unbelievable and was such a comfort to know they were just looking after me, thank you so much to you all.

Just over did it in the heat but was so enjoying the run. Lessons learned to hopefully avoid mistakes next time.
Laura FlynnYesterday, 6:31pmWow that was really really tough in that heat today. Good to hear you’re doing ok Alan and best wishes to Darron. It’s an absolutely gorgeous route which I’m planning to revisit on a cooler day.
Well done to Brian and all his volunteers especially the marshals out there in that heat. Huge thanks to Andy and Sandra for the much-needed water and other stuff at 16k without which I’m fairly sure I could not have continued. You’re all legends!!!
Brian McGuckinYesterday, 7:41pmMassive Thanks to all the volunteers and runners today, it was tough conditions, everyone was great help, and I think everyone survived.
Jeff SwordsYesterday, 7:41pmIt's a cliché but there was a great sense of community today, and we mustn't forget Andy Hanney who jumped in and volunteered himself to set up an aid station around the 7km mark, and then was found at the next station later in the race.
Same goes for everyone else out there today for such a length of time. I know from speaking to people after the race it was really appreciated and I've never been happier for a man to pour water all over me.
Ciaran O'SullivanYesterday, 10:52pmA big thank you to all the volunteers who put in an amazing shift today in the sweltering heat. With all sorts of issues cropping up everyone out on the coarse and back at the finish line delt with it professionaly. I for one could not have crossed the line without them. A big míla buíochas.
Miriam MaherToday, 11:20amWhat a slog/sufferfest! But what a fantastic route! Like Laura, I'd love to go back and do it in cooler temps.

Thanks very much to Brian and the whole volunteer crew for putting in a stellar stint on a such a hot day. Sandra and Andy were exceptionally welcome sights at the water stations and the mini showers I had each time kept me moving forward, albeit at a virtually crawling pace.

The legend that is Francis Conroy wished me well as I lumbered up past him on my return, telling me I was a great woman ;-) seeing as how Francis is well able to highlight the efforts needed by all of us, I felt that was a strong indication of how floored I would have looked by then.

The totter back across the finish line was hard won. Even though I was overall last place, I still got the same attention and focus that everyone else did.

Although I felt really woeful at the finish line, I was lucky enough that sitting in river up to my neck sorted me out and revived me to the point where I was thinking about my next outing.

Like others have commented, the rapid and expert response by Clare and others to the needs of some runners at the finish line was a testimony to the community we have in IMRA. Everyone rowed in to look after all the needs, physical and practical, of those affected.

So a massive thanks to all involved. And, with no apologies for saying it, I'm really looking forward to cold weather running...
