Mo FoleyMay 22 2008, 8:26amSee IMRA event web page for details on Slieve Bearnagh race on 8th June. The race is over 10 km mostly on forest tracks and starts at 1 pm. Would be great to see some Leinster runners coming down.
Mick HanneyMay 22 2008, 9:15amIts a pity it clashes with the WW relay the same weekend otherwise you'd have a better chance at attracting Leinster based runners.
Mike QuinlivanJun 7 2008, 8:15pmCourse is marked and looking in fine fettle for tomorrow's race. Those who have competed here before will be aware of the 2 peaks to be climbed and that while there are a few small loops (near start & Lackabranner) on the ascent, the descent is direct. Please be aware that there will be a scouts walk on the hill tomorrow - pls show courtesy for anyone you do meet while running.
And you will also be pleased to learn that Coillte have re-surfaced the roads and cleared up the paths. There are a number of new benches installed at various points along the route if you do feel inclined to take a breather! The wild strawberries are also ripe and you can enjoy the foxgloves and other flowers now in bloom and the vista over Lough Derg and Killaloe.
Mollys (roof terrace) in Ballina/Killaloe is the venue for refreshments and prize-giving afterwards.
